Hulkeasexo it is the rare 'crazy' movie that actually has something to say.
Anoushka Slater While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
FieCrier Not bad. At the moment this is a short that can be watched on IMDb for free, a pretty cool new feature.A writer with bills to pay gets his latest story rejected by Cemetery Dance (a real horror magazine and publisher). His wife nags him to pawn his laptop computer that they couldn't really afford anyway. However, at the pawnshop he sees famed horror writer H.P. Lovecraft's pillow for sale for $250. He can't resist buying it (although you'd think he'd want some provenance from the store better than "yeah, the guy who pawned it said it was").It's not a particularly Lovecraftian story itself. For a presumably low budget, there still is some decent camera-work, such as what appears to be a crane shot of the pawnshop.
MartinHafer This is a short story that was posted on IMDb in a new service that allows people in the US to view some free films and TV shows. Let's hope this becomes popular and spreads to other markets.LOVECRAFT'S PILLOW is a story that was reportedly inspired from a suggestion by Steven King. A poor shmoe has been trying for years to get published to no avail. His wife is fed up and tells him to sell his computer and stop with his dream (nice lady, huh?). So, when he goes to the pawn shop, he sees a pillow in the window that supposedly belonged to famed horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. According to Wikipedia, Lovecraft was famous for gaining inspiration from his bizarre dreams. When he buys the pillow instead of selling the laptop, strange and unexpected things occur in this very clever short film.
Polaris_DiB This is an earlier production from the same guy who did Dead@17, and yet it really reinforces what's wrong with the later film's production: bad acting and too much music. Here, things are played much straighter with decent acting and reserved moments of music for tension, and the effect is so much better. It's a pretty cool story: a failing writer with marital troubles trades in his laptop for Lovecraft's pillow, which apparently is in fact Lovecraft's pillow as it induces insanity in his wife. This of course gives him plenty of material to write with, so he trades the pillow back for the laptop. It actually kind of fits Lovecraft's own modus operandi: a person attracted to some promise of exposure to an Other gets it, only it turns out to be completely horrific. Besides, sometimes Lovecraft comes off as if he really just couldn't sleep.I really like this short. I'm not the biggest fan of Lovecraft or Stephen King (they have their influence and their perks), but it's a little more original than zombies and babes and at a couple of junctures is quite thrilling. Good work, Steensland, and keep doing it, this stuff is great.--PolarisDiB
