BootDigest Such a frustrating disappointment
AniInterview Sorry, this movie sucks
Titreenp SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?
Hulkeasexo it is the rare 'crazy' movie that actually has something to say.
SimonJack "Love's Long Journey" is the best of the various films I've seen from the Janette Oke series of novels. I agree with another reviewer that Erin Cottrell plays a very good Missy. Logan Bartholomew develops more as Willie LaHaye in this film, from his quiet, withdrawn character in "Love's Enduring Promise." While the faith of this young couple is strong throughout, we see them pick their place to finally settle and build a home two years after they struck out. I wondered about that in the film – it seems like quite a long time. Most of the settlers from the early wagon trains just decided at different points that a place looked good to them and that's where they would put up stakes. That is, those who weren't otherwise forced to stop wherever their money, food and supplies ran out. But, we understand that they had stopped in Denver for at least a year, during which they worked and set aside money to be able to start a ranch with a small herd. Again, the cinematography and technical qualities of this TV film are very good. And the expanded cast adds a great deal to the story, the action and the interest.I particularly enjoyed the addition of characters – the bad guys as well as the four hands that Willie hires, and Miriam and the other neighbors Missie meets and befriends. This film keeps moving, with enough character development and action to hold a viewer's attention. It makes it the most enjoyable of the series as well. A very good family movie, with a look at life in the pioneer settlement of the West. And, with people for whom strong faith was a constant companion. Their love and their faith supported them through many trials and hardships.
cbjslp From first seeing this third movie, I have been intensely disappointed at the replacement of January Jones. She was perfect as the older Missy, whose younger version was definitely not a Miss Goodie-Goodie. Jones matched the younger Missy's personality very well. Her replacement seems larger, not delicate, too smiley and forced perky and is not a good match for Willie. I liked the ranch hands much better than I did Missy. I haven't read the books. The first two movies made me interested in reading them. If I had seen just this one, I don't think I would have that interest. After reading some of the other viewer's comments, I want to read the books to see if they really are better than the movie plots. Little House is an American legend, but those who read Laura's books, know that Michael Landon took considerable dramatic license with his stories as the show progressed.
Amber-155 I have read all of the Love comes softly books, and I have seen all the movies put out so far. While the movies by them selves can be viewed as good, I am getting more and more annoyed at the gap between book and movie. Not even all of the names are correct! Many small things, but the main story line in the movie is not even found in the book at all. I can see why they may have done that to make it more interesting...but I think they should have written their own movie for that. I wanted to see the book brought to life, not just an interesting story line. This has the same name as the book, and SOME of the same characters. But after reading the book I was very disappointed when viewing the movie. I have no idea how they think they can go on to the next book when they don't even have what they need from this one to get there! So if you are going out for a good movie, go ahead you will probably enjoy it. If you are going out because you love the books, don't. Unless you are prepared to see one of your favorite story lines mutilated.
rgreen-30 I loved this movie!!! It is SOOOOO refreshing to see a movie made with family in mind. It was very clean. No course language, no nudity, and no violence. My family loved it. The lead characters (Logan Bartholomew and Erin Cottrell) are very appealing and great to watch. I was glad to see Logan Bartholomew take the role of Willie LaHaye again. It was different not seeing the other Missie, however I enjoyed Erin as Missie much more. I would recommend anyone to watch it along with Love Comes Softly and Love's Enduring Promise. I have always been a fan of Janet Oke and we are eagerly awaiting the next installment and hope you will continue to put these great books on the big screen.
