Synopsis

Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear and half of Mexico was quarantined as an infected zone. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain "the creatures," while a journalist agrees to escort a shaken tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the U.S. border.

TrueJoshNight Truly Dreadful Film
AboveDeepBuggy Some things I liked some I did not.
Iseerphia All that we are seeing on the screen is happening with real people, real action sequences in the background, forcing the eye to watch as if we were there.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
gmosko-312-658527 There is a real hater's review that caused me to write my own review. The prior guy, i_am_bryony, moaned and whined about how terrible EVERYTHING was. The sets, the acting, the writing, everything! To give equal time to some sensible thought, I really enjoyed this movie, especially considering how few dollars were spent on production! I have read that it was made for $15,000 ! That alone is worthy of an award. I applaud the under-use of monster reveals. You barely see them at all, but you know what they look like from crude drawings, presented in the context of the movie. Almost at t he very end, we actually meet one of them, and then see another alien interacting with the first alien. Their action was carefully very gentle. The entire final sequence--night time at the deserted gas station--was completely haunting. I mean it. The remoteness, the feeling of being alone, and the total lack of protection--these things elicited a real feeling in me. I think the write/director deserves HUGE kudos. I really like this little jewel of a film.
Doctor Skellington If you enjoy staring at two pretty nobodies ad-libbing about whether or not they might want to pork one day whilst travelling across Mexico, with poor CGI monsters you only ever get to see occasionally hinted at in uber dark and mushy night scenes to hide the effects from criticism, then this movie is for you, if however you were hoping for action, adventure and some actual monsters in your monster movie, then no.Blair Witch with slightly better production values and just as much pay off for your time.
rh-65 Everything was wrong on this movie. If she was a rich girl, why didn't he just run her to the airport anywhere south of there and she could fly home and save us the trouble of watching this massively flawed PoS.
one-nine-eighty Alien monsters exist and they are on earth, while governments and their armies are at war the ordinary person on the street is living in war zones. A journalist agrees to escort one of his boss's daughters across the Mexico/America border through the war zone. This movie was apparently made on a shoe string budget but doesn't often look cheap. As far as visual style and acting go they are pretty average enough to not offend, even if you never really see a monster properly. The main problem that I found was that this film was boring in places and went on far too long. This felt more of a voyage of discovering two characters rather than anything to do with Monsters, the suspense and scares were far too apart to cause any lasting emotion. As the film dragged on I kept wanting one of the character to get eaten to make things more lively, alas this didn't happen. Don't expect a thrill-a-minute ride, not much happens; they talk, they hide, they talk, they run, they talk, they cross the border, they talk. Maybe this film tries to be too clever by implying metaphors and coincidences and thus becomes pretentious, either way I stopped caring because it was soo limp and boring. I'm glad I won't have to watch this one again.
