Reviews

DipitySkillful an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.
Jenna Walter The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Isbel A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
tavm Just went on the Cartoon Brew site and found a still photo display of a day in the life of animator Julia Pott which the author said was from a Korean version of the magazine "Elle Girl". Anyway, one of the commentators linked to one of her shorts on YouTube which turned out to be called Howard in which a woman states the pros and cons of someone she once loved. Since this short I'm reviewing now is the only one of Ms. Pott's films that's actually listed on IMDb, that's what I watched next. In this one, many people are actually telling about their first real-life crush with various animals illustrated here representing them. The names of those crushed are printed in balloons when they're mentioned. Quite touching, so on that note, I highly recommend Julia Pott's My First Crush.
Louise-Houston This is one of the loveliest animations I have ever seen. Incredibly sweet and heartwarming. You can tell it was made with love. The expressions on the animals' faces are spot on.I love that they are real stories - it makes the pace and the pathos perfect. The drawings are a joy - and she has edited it all really well. I cannot fault it - I've sent the link for it to all my friends and acquaintances because I really think Julia's work deserves a wider audience. There's room on this planet for quiet and beautiful animation as opposed to the usual shouty, noisy stuff. And this is really gorgeous stuff.
