Blucher One of the worst movies I've ever seen
Kailansorac Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
Frances Chung Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Raymond Sierra The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Elewis1195 It really is a bad movie, but it's a fun bad movie. It reminds me a bit of caveman with Ringo Starr, though I don't know if this movie will ever get the cult following that caveman got. Some funny bits, but not laugh out loud, really more just "did they really just go there".Uma tries to play the role of jilted lover but she doesn't really pull it off. She comes across as more psychopath than sympathetic and maybe that's fine. Maybe this film wasn't right for anything touching but I really felt the hurt girlfriend was a missed opportunity in this one.Owen Wilson is fine as the abused boyfriend. He does pull it off and you feel a little sorry for him. Not that abuse should ever be the subject of comedy, but maybe we can forgive this one for it's ridiculous premise.Rainn Wilson is great as the sleazy best friend, but Rainn is always great. I wish every Will Farrel Movie ever made would have stared Rainn Wilson in his place, but . . . enough of that. The chemistry between Anna Doe-Eyed Faris and Owen is hard to buy, so there's really not much going for this film but it's ridiculousness. That said, where it fails at making any connection with the audience at all, except for Owen being genuinely sympathetic. It scores points in silly, stuff you've never seen before (and who hasn't wanted to have sex with a partner who can fly?) and bits with the car and the shark and Rainn trying to hit on a pretty bartender.Mega-mind had 5 times the heart this movie has and the romance was 20 times more believable, but I still enjoyed this one for it's visuals, it's preposterous 'ness and for Owens and Rainn's solid acting jobs.Besides, superman films have never addressed the question, what is it really like to make love to a superhero who can bench-press a tractor trailer.
Smoreni Zmaj As soon as I saw Anna Faris I was clear what kind of movie this is, but Uma Thurman in leading role gave me false hope that maybe I just have prejudice. Well, some prejudices are here for a reason. We all know Anna from Scary Movie franchise. Fans of it will probably enjoy this movie, the rest of you should skip it. Movie is slightly retarded and being a comedy is not good excuse. For good comedy you need story either completely retarded or not retarded at all. Slightly retarded simply is not funny. This movie is somewhat entertaining nonsense with just few inspiring scenes and that's it.5/10 (if there's no shark scene I would rate it even lower)
Bob An This movie is really fun! I enjoyed it throughout. Although the story is quite a cliché and you can kinda predict what will happen with the G girl and the regular girl and what will become of the couple... It does not spoil the fun.Uma was really great for the role.Luke too. He is kinda used to playing the good guys and Uma was there brilliantly playing the good and the bad one. The girl from those 'SCARY movies' was a nice adding to the cast - sorry I don't know her name. All in all, I really don't see how this movie can get one or two star rating. Yes, it is nothing spectacular, but if you are after some really light, fun and cool movie, this one is great one.I actually don't like many of those comedy / romance films, but this one is actually funny! Nine from me. It was a real fun and pleasure watching it!
Blueghost This film is nothing to write home about, but it has a few shiny flourishes. The thing to remember is that this film was aimed at the teen age and college comic book crowd. It wasn't meant to be anything more than that. And when you look at it in that context you find those bright moments that Reitman was trying to give the audience. This isn't adult fare gone bad as it was presented for adults. It's teenage fast-food cinema that's got more production values and gloss than the teen-sex romps I grew up with; "Spring Break" or "One Crazy Summer" as examples.Yeah, Thurman's character has got issues. But she's supposed to. This is a teenage guy film about a comic book guy's perspective on women. The target audience is probably the biggest item to criticize, because if there are enough people (immature men) who fall into the category of feeling helpless and powerless against women when in a relationship, then maybe there's something wrong with society to allow such a population to explode and support this film. Yeah, that's kind of high minded and somewhat near leaving the topic of the film itself, but I think it's important to contemplate. All in all I didn't mind the film, but did find it ridiculous and mildly amusing here and there. Yes, a better film could have been made for the adult dating scene, and we could argue about whether that should have been greenlit as opposed to what we have, and yes, it probably would have been a better film. But take this film for what it is, a time waster. A film to put on the DVD player as you hit the "sleep" button on your TV.Watch if only so inclined.
