GetPapa Far from Perfect, Far from Terrible

Contentar Best movie of this year hands down!

Teddie Blake The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Juana what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

babeth_jr I love this 1992 Lifetime Movie starring Shannen Doherty as Lorie Brindel, a young woman who becomes involved in a relationship with Ed Bledsoe (capably played by the stalwart William Devane), a man old enough to be her father. Lorie is unstable and has a daddy complex, not a good combination. The movie really gets reved up when Ed decides to dump the wackadoodle Lorie. The movie is supposed to be serious, i.e. Lorie's stalking of Ed and her suicide attempt, but it was just hilarious. The whole thing is over the top, from the clichéd dialog, tacky 90's clothes and big hair, and Shannen's performance. It is a guilty pleasure from start to finish.

edburtjr I just could not believe that Shannon Doherty or any young woman would carry on about William Devane. I know your lead to believe she had daddy issues, but I didn't get it. Maybe if she had a bunch or rats at her place like the movie 'Willard' I'd get it. The acting is decent enough though the love scenes were sort of gross. I liked William Devane in 'Marathon Man' & 'Testament', but come on now! Basically it's like like Fatal Attraction, or Play Misty For Me if you just make it young girl, older guy. The way she keeps trying and trying to win Devane's heart is all too much. I always liked Shannon from her Beverly Hills, 90210 days and felt the show sunk down when she left, I thought she'd make more of her career afterwords, but then again, who on that show did?

john My wife watches Lifetime constantly. I derided this movie when it came on, but the sight of shoulder pads on Shannen Dougherty's blazer made it impossible to look away. This file is a great fashion time capsule for the early 90s. There's also acid washed fabric, big earrings, granny boots, long sweater/leggings combo, and lots of teal and purple. Story's really predicable. The denouement scene where the boyfriend and the distant father meet could've had a flashing sign in the background that read "FATHER FIGURE COMPLEX." The scene where Shannen shows up drunk at Devane's house wearing only a trench coat (but somehow having perfectly styled big hair of the era) was hilarious.

GJBMarsh This film has only one redeeming feature. It contains some extremely trite and hilariously cheesy montage footage of People Doing Things.Apart from that, don't watch it. Do something, anything, else. Really, almost anything. Even cleaning your toenails. Twice.You will save yourself a small part of your life.
