Diagonaldi Very well executed
SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
Ketrivie It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
foutainoflife After watching the first, I was truly surprised to see they had made not one but two sequels. I'm a lover of suspense, thrillers and horror so I had to check it out. The first one wasn't a favorite of mine. This one, in my opinion, was much better than the first. I've seen several reviews saying it is unreal, the characters are stupid because their attempts of reboarding are all failures and a drag but what did you think you were going to be watching? The whole plot revolves around their long struggle and failed attempts to get back on the boat. They were going to be drifting for a majority of the movie. This isn't a big budget movie but it has a touch of polish to it. The acting was not exceptional but it was fair. The story and how the characters were involved with one another was decent too.It was an average movie but I gave it an extra star just because I thought it was such an improvement from the first one.
Paul Magne Haakonsen For some reason I managed to get to watch parts 1 and 3 of the "Open Water" movies, but never got the chance to watch part 2 before now. I must admit that with the track record of the previous movies, then I wasn't particularly thrilled to sit down to watch "Open Water 2: Adrift".It turned out that this movie was every bit as slow paced and mundane as parts 1 and 3. So no surprise there. Not that I had expected any different, mind you. So on that account, no major surprises. The story told in "Open Water 2: Adrift" certainly had some interesting enough aspects, but was horribly weighed down by the fact that way too little happened throughout the movie. And that resulted in the movie feeling like it was dragging on and much longer than it actually was.The acting in the movie was adequate, although there weren't really any outstanding performances that won me over. People were doing good enough jobs, no doubt about it. But they had next to nothing to work with."Open Water 2: Adrift" was somewhat of an ordeal to get through, and I must admit that I am rating it a sinking score of 3 out of 10 stars - just like I rated parts 1 and 3.
mxpappy Acting was great, story was good, setting was good. Don't know what's up with these 1* reviews. Better than the 1st IMO. Gonna type this again because that all I needed to say in my review. Acting was great, story was good, setting was good. Don't know what's up with these 1* reviews. Better than the 1st IMO.
MovieHoliks I really enjoyed the original 2004 film, which was a home-made little indie movie in the tradition of "Blair Witch" and "Paranormal Activity" that takes off and becomes a mainstream hit. I saw this movie, and figured, okay, it's probably a direct-to-video title with some more familiar faces than the original had, maybe a little bigger budget, but will probably be god-awful. Well, it wasn't actually as bad as I expected. The premise of the original is this couple is out on a scuba diving expedition in the Caribbean Islands somewhere I think-??- and get left behind by their instructor to fend for themselves in the shark-infested "Open Waters". This one really doesn't have anything to do with the original, other than having a similar premise. The premise of this one is that these three couples are out on their friend's yacht, enjoying the ocean. One of them panics, and they all jump in the water to save her not realizing no one let the ladder down... Okay..would this really be a major problem?? I'm not terribly familiar with the whole mechanisms involved here, so I didn't have an issue with it. I was on board. Now they, like the couple in the original film, have to fend for themselves in the middle of the ocean in shark-infested "Open Waters". But this one, unlike the original, instead of it being "man against beast", it was more "man against man", as they start to turn on each other one by one.So overall, I'm a bit on the fence on this one- probably a marginal thumbs-down. See it if you liked the original, and have nothing better to do some Saturday afternoon, otherwise- if you haven't seen it already- watch the original 2004 film instead...
