Am I Missing Something?

A bit overrated, but still an amazing film

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

I think the hatred might be coming from the fact that some people may have expected a lot of this movie and were deceived...
I watched with an open eye and pretty much like it. Nice fights and choregraphy and lovers of the chinese atmosphere will indubitially like it
I think this film isn't that bad but isn't that good either but could deserve better ratings...

It was actually fun to watch. Nicolas cage is and always has been awful. His squinty eye acting trying to portray someone missing an eye made me LOL. He is just awful. Like super awful. Including his bad accent. He is not even really a main character. Hayden was great! I would suggest it as an easy to watch action movie...just ignore the bad actor.

I've grown extremely wary of anything with Nicolas Cage, but decided to give this a try. Fortunately, Nicolas is not in it the entire time, as I have not heard an English accent that good since Bus Pirates. I also didn't know that they had Grecian Formula back in those days. The movie was pleasantly self aware. Look for the exchange between the fugitive heir to the throne and our hero who has just made an archery shot that not even Green Arrow or Robin Hood could have pulled off. The hero's answer alone is worth the price of admission. Also, the reply to the White Ghost's question of how did you find me is quite enjoyable. It's not a great movie, but the costumes seem period correct, the weapons seem plausible, and the scenery is outstanding. And with the exception of one acceptable scene, there is no Kung Foolery.

What I liked about this film was that it was clean and fun. I enjoyed seeing Hayden Christensen do something different. Some parts were a little silly, but it was enjoyable. There were some historical elements to it, and a lot of action. I also liked the conflicts of different perspectives. This is my favorite role of Hayden Christensen's of late. Nic Cage's character was a little over the top for me. It is not the best film ever made, but it wasn't that bad either. I watched it back to back the first time.I also enjoyed the interviews and making of in the special features section.
