Greenes Please don't spend money on this.
Beystiman It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
Lollivan It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Sarita Rafferty There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
Hiro_Protagonist2008 Watched this movie only by chance and I must say: Yes I liked it very much ! It's a lightweight, heart warming comedy flick with much of nice references to the cultural differences in nowadays Europe. Differences, that make life interesting as well challenging. Nowadays Europe ? Yes...however this film is set in France, its story is universal and would work in several countries – let's say in Germany with it's big Turkish/Muslim community (but in Germany film makers don't have such open & light minds and warm hearts to elaborate a culture clash comedy like this ;-) So I liked the film very much - the main character is established like a modish bitch but when we (the audience) start following her journey to Morocco and to her emotional roots, we also start to empathize. Its a light movie for a nice evening. A story well told, played by good actors and set in beautiful pictures.
Zacharias Heck I have seen this movie in a "sneak preview"-screening and I will never again go into a sneak preview at this venue, since they show movies like this one. Let me elaborate: The set-up is ordinary, we got a bitchy woman living in luxury in Paris, who doesn't have to care about consequences and about being a decent human being, because she is beautiful and somewhat rich. Thats the point in every movie where you can start to begin hating the main character a bit, so you can enjoy her being tortured later on. From this point I expected a decent movie, in which now would be the time that something changes, let's say she gets cancer and realizes that most of her so called friends are shallow and that she has to turn her life around. And then, something actually happened in the movie and I got a bit excited, as for the first time in her life, it seems, she has to face consequences and gets evicted to morocco. So far so good, I rubbed my hands in expectation of a decent film (instead of a cheesy nightmare of a bad comedy sitcom) now. But: Morocco is not bad for the main character at all, the worst thing about it is a somewhat obnoxious taxi driver (who does not even seem to rip her off), her brother who pulls some pranks on her and that the father dislikes her for her bitchy behaviour. This is the point where I can understand why someone would give this movie a higher rating than 5, because someone might actually feel sorry for her. In fact, I would have given this movie a decent rating, if I had felt sorry for her at this point, because that would be the kind of story everybody likes a bit. Now even more things happen throughout the movie, that are making me fill sick rather than sorry for her, though. And a long line of stupid actions that result in unexpectedly good outcomes later, our main character is the coolest kid in town, for the sake of a happy movie ending. I won't debate whether you need a real moral of a story or not, but I didn't get the moral of the story, if it was anything else than "there are no consequences to stupid and bitchy behaviour". Also, the story was so full of holes, for some time during the movie I thought they had accidentally cut out 20 Minutes but realizing they hadn't, made the predictable and unjustified drift to this ending anger inducing for me. Oh and there is a side story about the only real friend of our main character back in Paris. She has a stupid boyfriend who can't get it up and that is the basis of all jokes except some of them that are as old as television (like she throws out her own laptop instead of his in anger). So in conclusion we can say there are some jokes that might be funny to some people. The acting is not really bad, some camera movements are good. Which leaves us at a 2 out of 10 with obvious deductions for the ridiculously cliché story full of missing plot points even though they seem to have used a standard model kit for the construction of this "movie".EDIT: Just to be clear, I don't like Sex and the City
