Cathardincu Surprisingly incoherent and boring
Console best movie i've ever seen.
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Blake Rivera If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
adonis98-743-186503 A former sports star who's fallen on hard times starts coaching his son's soccer team as a way to get his life together. His attempts to become an adult are met with challenges from the attractive soccer moms who pursue him at every turn. Playing for Keeps is a sweet Romantic Comedy starring Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Dennis Quaid, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Judy Greer basically a very talented cast of talented people and honestly i really enjoyed this film i've seen it like 3 times by now? and each time it gets better to be honest. Butler does a pretty good job as this former sports star and the film is a mix of comedy, romance and even a little bit of drama sometimes and i get it that some people might get bored with the whole thing that a couple of beautiful women fall for just one guy and they basically run after him for the entire film but it's not just about that it's also about a man that tries to win back his kid and his wife plus he also gets to meet a pretty rich guy that hands him a beautiful car and they become friends but not everything is what it seems right? If you liked films of this kind about love, sports and with a few jokes in it you might actually enjoy Playing for Keeps (2012).
Prismark10 Gerard Butler plays an ex professional footballer trying to kick-start his life in America by becoming a sports presenter and be near his son.Butler plays George Fryer, who played for Celtic, Liverpool (he was there 'at that famous night in Istanbul') and also played for his national team, Scotland before playing soccer in the USA.A bit like George Best he has lived the good life and is now short of cash and in order to get closer with his son, he coaches the kids soccer team which means all the soccer moms wants to bed him. Butler still carries a torch for his ex wife who is planning to marry someone else.Butler enjoys playing a footballer who is a babe magnet much to puzzlement of his landlord who is always chasing him for the rent. Butler displays an easy charm but there is very little original in a story where the women are shown to be shallow and vapid.
Paul Magne Haakonsen Oddly enough this movie turned out to be a mediocre movie experience. Which I assume was because of the predictable storyline. I had initially expected a lot more from this movie, given the rather impressive cast list.Former soccer star George is back in his sons life as he takes on the responsibility of coaching his sons soccer team. Soon the soccer mom's swarm the charming coach and his life is turned upside down. The storyline was as generic as they come, as if director Gabriele Muccino had followed the guide of how to make romantic comedies page by page. But despite the predictability and sappy story then "Playing for Keeps" is still entertaining enough for what it is.It is the impressive cast list that saves the movie, no doubt about it. A list that includes Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Dennis Quaid, Uma Thurman and Catherine Zeta-Jones. And the talents were doing quite good jobs with their given roles and characters. If you enjoy romantic comedies that are thick with sappy story lines then you will enjoy "Playing for Keeps".
tvmovienews Fellas, this is one that you would obviously watch with the cheese and kisses (misses). Or if you are a big fan of Gerard Butler and chick-flicks, this is also for you (guilty). Playing for keeps follows a former soccer star who has fallen on hard times and starts to coach his son's soccer team as a way to get his life back on track. Of course though, being Gerard Butler has its challenges. He gets swamped by advances by all of the attractive soccer mums, while trying to mend his relationship with his ex-wife played by Jessica Biel. For what it is, it's entertaining enough with some funny moments along the way. The cast is actually quite large with Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Judy Greer as the soccer mums and Dennis Quaid who is pretty funny as Uma Thurman's cheating husband and powerful business man, who tries to befriend Butler. It is also directed by Gabriele Muccino who has had plenty of success with 'The Pursuit of Happiness' and 'Seven Pounds'. This movie feels similar to the Will Ferrell comedy, 'Kicking & Screaming', where he also plays a little league soccer coach, but Playing for Keeps has less comedy and way more romance. Still, if you enjoyed Butlers previous comedies like 'The Bounty Hunter' and 'The Ugly Truth', then you should also enjoy this.My Rating: 6/10For more Movie and TV News, Reviews and Rumours go to: www.facebook.com/tvmovienews
