Maidgethma Wonderfully offbeat film!

Jemima It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

Pepper Anne 'Plump Fiction' is really aimed at those who think the success of Quentin Tarentino movies are really overrated, or that the director himself is quite pretentious (and you probably would if you've seen him in interviews, especially on the DVD commentary of his films). The movie opens up with that Star-Wars span of written introduction of how, at the 1994 Cannes Festival, an unknown director showed a movie totally out of sequence (and basically not making any sense, anyway) with lots of violence and lang cursing, wowed audiences made everybody filthy rich. They exploit that all in this movie. It doesn't make a lick of sense, but there's plent of violence, cursing, and an out-of-sequence story. 'Plump Fiction' is a spoof of three particular films: Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs, and Natural Born Killers (yes, that's an Oliver Stone movie). And it's so stupid, it's funny (though not everything in it is so outrageously funny as most spoofs tend to be). I would agree with one viewer who wrote that the funniest sequences in the film are those that spoof Natural Born Killers because the characters who mock Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis's renegade fugitive gun-toting team are absolutely hilarious. I also liked the introduction scene with Sandra Bernhard as the insulting, angry Amanda Plummer knock off of Pulp Fiction. She's so funny and the entire dialogue is so stupid.Instead of Marscellas Wallace, you have an Italian strip lounge owner/exterminator named Montello Hungry, and his goons are The Exterminators (literally), Jimmy Nova and Julius. The entire French translation sequence that takes place in the car is now about Euro Disney instead of hamburgers. Jimmy now has to babysit Montello's disgusting gluttunous wife, Mimi (played the fantastic Julie Brown), who's a diabetic of all things. There's a scene mocking Reservoir Dogs where a bunch of nuns (aptly named Sister Sister and Sister Sledge, among others) who plan a robbery. That's pretty funny. Sister Sledge (Simbi Khali) is played by the same woman who is 'Nina' on 3rd Rock From the Sun. She's pretty funny here.The Forrest Gump character, Bumpkin, and the Gimp character (from Nell) were pretty stupid and their scenes (like the convenient store hold-up) were a waste of time. There's other independent movies poked at here, too (see the scenes at the Independent Bar). I thought Priscilla, Queen of the Deserts was pretty clever. Anyway, it wasn't a bad spoof. Not as outrageously funny as maybe some of your Zucker/Abrams/Zucker or Carl Reiner movies (they reign king on the spoofs), but it still offers a lot of laughs.

EmperorNortonII Many big-budget Hollywood movies have been subject to spoofs. "Top Gun" had "Hot Shots!", "Scream" had "Scary Movie," etc. Now, the world of indie movies gets spoofed. "Plump Fiction" is primarily a parody of "Pulp Fiction." But also, there are pokes at other indies such as "Reservoir Dogs," "Natural Born Killers" and "Clerks," plus a few Hollywood biggies, like "Forrest Gump." Obscure movie characters pop in and out, as do a few minor celebrities. There are a few laughs, possibly even more counting the unintentional ones. Some might call this a bad movie. I wonder if it was intentionally bad! Maybe meant to be so bad it's good? See "Plump Fiction" for yourself, and you make the call!

roadie_87 This can hardly be called a good movie, actually it's not even close. But I have to say, that there was a few things that made me... not laugh, not giggle, but something like that. The Resovoir Dogs parody was one of them. The rest are not important enough to be remembered.To be honest, I was a little disappointed by this movie. The plot sounded like an idea, but it quickly fell to the ground. The whole thing was just to messy and the actors where not good for the characters; most of them simply overacted. There was also a whole lot of unessecary sequences, that was a total waste of film. I do realize that it would make the movie about 20 min shorter, but it would only make it better.Now, with the good and the bad things lined up, let's go to the conclusion: two out of six toilet seats up for this one.

Joyce Hauchart Big laugh over all this comments.Yes, it is a fun movie if you have seen Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Natural Born Killers. The scene at the diners in the beginning is hilarious. But then I must admit that throughout the film I was not always laughing so much. I just expected more. Seeing all the actors trying to impersonate the "real" ones, works for a minute, but then it's over.Again I expected more. But then again, it's the best parody I ever saw.And then, just to read the comments, guys you hate it or you love it, which means the movie has character. It's personal, it works for you or it doesn't. This has more to say about you than the movie. Relax, enjoy, get popcorn when it gets to heavy or sigh, I wish I was part of that crew or cast. Imagine how much fun they had.As for the 3$ for a rental, you can get lots of things worse for 3$. Believe me.
