Helllins It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
areatw Imagine a 90 minute long car chase, but with a bike instead. That's practically what 'Premium Rush' is, and it's just as tedious as it sounds. There's usually a good reason for why some things have never been attempted before, so I don't know why they didn't take the hint that a bike chase movie wasn't wanted or needed. The end result of this silly idea is a boring, repetitive and crappy little action flick. It's just about watchable, though the setting of New York city helps enormously with that. The story, the bike chases, the script... very uninteresting. 'Premium Rush' was never going to be good. A bad idea for a film and an equally bad end result.
Leofwine_draca PREMIUM RUSH is a very silly Hollywood action thriller with a difference: all of the action involves a bicycle courier in New York finding himself chased by a corrupt cop. The film is very odd in tone, feeling like a kid's film throughout with goofy humour and stylistics, and yet featuring a torrent of bad language that automatically raises the rating. The nice-but-bland Joseph Gordon-Levitt takes the lead role, an innocent who just so happens to be a whiz on wheels. The surprisingly dire Michael Shannon is the villain of the piece; I love this guy in most of his stuff, such as BOARDWALK EMPIRE, but he's embarrassingly hammy here, trying really hard to be quirky and funny but never succeeding. Dania Ramirez is the token pretty girl along for the ride. The film's action scenes are watchable and fast-paced, but blighted by CGI effects which are embarrassingly bad in places; you'll think you're watching an Asylum movie. The plot has no place in the real world so a massive suspension of disbelief is required. The end result is a missed opportunity, although not without wasted potential.
lhunt-9 I finally got around to watching Premium Rush, and glad I did. I was trying to watch Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, which is also a great film... but too slow-paced for me to adjust to. Basically, my mind (and sometimes my body) run at about the speed of this film, which, to be precise, is up to 50 mph on a bike on the (always jammed) streets of New York City. (OK, I do up to 60 kph on my two wheels.) I last stayed in the Lincoln Square neighbourhood, which I recognized during the Central Park sequence. As usual, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is flawless, and his supporting cast were fully up to the task. Not only is Premium Rush easy to watch, it's a glorious accomplishment for athletics and film combined. If you haven't seen it yet, and if your mentality is as fast-paced as mine, this could be the film for you....... (You might want to call it the Run, Lola Run of bicycle movies.)
Forever Spn It is like that book that which you pick up, you cant put down, not even for a second, until you finish it. Except in this case, you cant even look right or left or you miss an important happening. This movie doesn't have a single boring scene! The reason most people have given it a low rating must be because of the simple story, but sometimes a simple story is told with such suspense and artistry, that it makes a movie "perfect". The acting, of course, is flawless too. Another reason why I think people must have given it a low rating must be because it may seem a bit unrealistically childish at some points, but then there was no line put at the start of the movie claiming that the story narrated is a true-life story. I think, it is a different movie and is so grasping, while being so simple.
