Titreenp SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Tyreece Hulme One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
Stephanie There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
wahn06 I am a big fan of the time travel concept and movies, that is why giving it three stars. Otherwise, I had to see the wikipedia page of this movie to find out what the plot actually was! Of course, I found out, the plot was good, but I couldn't follow it while watching it, and I have followed the plots of all time travel movies I have watched. I can forgive the producer, director and actors because it was a very low budget film, but please don't make such crap again.
FJWWindsor The basic premise of Primer has the potential to be exceptional, as I admire and respect sci-fi movies based on actual science. I actually viewed this movie a second time, not realizing I had seen it quite some time ago. My reaction both times: it sucked the joy out of watching this movie both times. The problem, IMHO, is the writing. Again, the basic story line is sound, but the writers fill the script with techno-babble and hip entrepreneur-speak designed to add credibility to overly highbrow dialogue, and so came across as pretentious and superficial. I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent, as I was raised in the education system of the Kennedy Cold War era, with its emphasis on math and science, but I could not honestly discern whether the science portrayed was accurate or even real. Here, the writers drop the ball in failing to make a connection that an ordinary viewer would understand. As they dumped more and more scientific terms and processes into the film, I began to care about the characters less and less. Then there's the plot. I'm not sure why the two lesser characters of the original foursome were included, as they didn't move the story along and were completely incidental to the film. It this way, they were merely red herrings. Also, what's with the guy with the shotgun showing up to the party? I couldn't understand why that plot device was introduced, other than the writers deciding they needed to add dramatic effect to a movie dry with scientific lingo. I believe part of the problem is the limited budget this movie must have had. Imagine what this movie could have been in the hands of a James Cameron, Ridley Scott or David Cronenberg. Here's hoping that a big budget remake is a seed in one of their minds.
francogrex I don't know where to begin. I expected the actors, director and the rest of the crew to come out at some point during the movie and tell us that it was a joke e.g. an experimental psychology test they've been doing on viewers to measure their reactions to utter nonsense, meaningless bits of dialogue and camera shots. I don't know if this should classify as a movie, it's more like a homemade video shot by two teenage boys and not even that, any teenage boy could have thought of a better plot. This movie had no plot. I've seen bad movies, this is the absolute worse. So sad to have wasted time on this. Please listen to me, life is short don't waste it, don't watch this movie.
lonewulz THIS REVIEW IS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEEN THE MOVIEI'll give this one a 4. And I'm being generous. The plot could be explained in 30 seconds. Instead, we are held captive for 80 minutes listening to two young inventors exchange pseudo-scientific, nonsensical, meaningless jargon and intentionally confusing theories and observations. I constantly wondered what their actual footprint in time was, compared to when they first started. Of course, that's what the screenwriter intended so I guess it was a success in some regard. It was a disappointment that the fruits of their labor were never shown--it would have been nice to see them succeed in one of the many investments they made. I found myself waiting for the morbid sense of gloom to be replaced with hope for the two guys. Never happened.Oh and Abe was horribly miscast. David Sullivan looked and acted like a college freshman athlete and all the seemingly intelligent mumbo jumbo was hardly believable, uttered from his lips. They should have at least cleaned him up a little bit and thrown some glasses on him.Ultimately, the psycho-babble exchanges between the two engineers becomes annoying, as you realize it's not meant to progress the story. It's only synthetically dramatic filler. In fact, I don't know who these purposeless verbal exchanges were meant to entertain: Reasonably intelligent people see right through it; and slower or uninterested people certainly couldn't take anything away from it.The movie was unsatisfying on just about every level but, it's graded on a curve and I've seen way worse.
