Synopsis

School's over – and for brand-new high-school graduates Ben, Felix and Nick, it's time to party! But when Ben embarrasses himself in public trying to declare his love for the gorgeous Carola, he and his pals make a quick exit by taking jobs as hosts in a vacation club on Ibiza, the Mediterranean hot spot for oversexed boys and underdressed girls! Instead of sun, sea and sex, however, it's work, work and more work, as the three are kept busy around the clock by their sadistic boss Anna. And when Ben bumps into Carola and her super-cool DJ boyfriend, Ibiza starts feeling more like Alcatraz by the minute. Yet even as the mishaps pile up and the boys have to cope with stinging jellyfish, English hooligans and tequila hangovers, they refuse to give up their plan to throw the ultimate Ibiza party for the club, and especially for Carola. Summer is short, but these guys are going to make sure everyone remembers this one for a long time!

Reviews

WasAnnon Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
Brendon Jones It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
Derry Herrera Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
Yash Wade Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "Pura vida Ibiza" is a German comedy film from 2004, so this one has its 15th anniversary soon and this one was directed by Gernot Roll, one of Germany's most successful cinematographers of all time and it is truly baffling how big the quality gap is between his work as a cinematographer and his work as a director and honestly I have no idea how he ends up in charge of films with garbage scripts like this one. This one here actually is a definite contender for his worst film and it's truly shocking to see no less than four writers being in charge of the screenplay. Luckily for everybody from the audience, the film stays under the 90-minute mark pretty easily. The three lead actors have acted recently on "In aller Freundschaft", "Das Traumschiff" and "Rote Rosen", which describes the range by the cast here pretty well. Even to German film buffs, none of the trio are really well-known. The supporting cast includes some more famous names that really don't add anything of value either. For me personally, the most shocking thing here was Horst Krause and I think he is a talented and likable actor, so I have absolutely no idea why he was showing up here as his character was also nothing short of embarrassingly bad. In this film you will be watching 3 young men for almost 1.5 hours on the island of Ibiza. They party, they make out, they engage in arguments with fat pale Englishmen or in drama that never feels authentic and engage in comedy that never feels funny. It was truly embarrassing really how big of a boring failure this film was. Especially those parts that were intended to be funny were the most cringeworthy. No idea why Tom Gerhardt is first-billed here as his screen time is minimal, but it fits absurdity of the entire project. Even Gerhardt's party comedies with Hilmi Sözer, who is part of the cast here too, were not as horrible and at the same time as forgettable as this one here. At least this Karl Dall film on Ibiza still has a bit of a funny trash tendency, but this one here even fails in that department. It's so bland overall. It has the entertainment value of a spat-out bone that not even the most undemanding dog would still sink his teeth into. Highly not recommended.
orangecream Wanna see some great new German hunks then go and watch that movie! PURA VIDA IBIZA is the story of three guys going to Ibiza and working as hosts in a club hotel. Sunshine, parties and girls are what they dream of, but things don´t work out as they expect. However the boys supply a good number of laughs! The actors, even not very much known in Germany, are funny and cast well. Especially Tom Wlaschiha who plays the wannabe womanizer Felix convinced me. Lots of really dirty gags will entertain throughout the whole movie. Not that `artsy fartsy' crap they usually make in Germany. I had a great time watching it!
HossTM !WARNING! - Watching this movie could seriously lead to brain malfunction... ... so you're best off if you hand over your brains at the ticket counter. Wait a minute, if you've decided to actually buy that ticket, that won't be necessary anymore. This movie is a plotless piece of junk, and not even two bottles of wine make it bearable. The flat and embarrassing "jokes" will cause you no tears of joy, but cries of pain while you join the "actors" in a movie wie Germans consider "comedy."
viwehei Everyone in Germany keeps complaining about the bad reputation of the German movie! Well, this movie really is a reason to complain and doesn´t make it any better. Who on earth spends money on producing a film like this? The actors are alright but the story and the jokes are just stupid! The characters are so unconvincing and especially women are reduced to being blonde and stupid. So folks - don´t waste your money on watching this. It´s not worth it!
