Wyatt There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Takethispunch Dhanakpur village farmer Thakur Jaswant Singh (Alok Nath) and Dhanraj Singh (Dalip Tahil) are brothers. They have a younger sister Madhumati, who was used, made pregnant and ditched by Ratan Singh (played by Arjun), the son of Thakur Raghuveer Singh from a big Rajput family. The family refuses Jaswant Singh's request to get his sister married to Ratan. Ratan's family refuses to accept that he is guilty, as they are interested in their status.
long-ford 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' retains it's freshness today. There is a foreboding beginning which reminds us of the violent eighties pot-boilers. However, once Aamir and Juhi make an entry, the audience becomes mesmerized by their chemistry. Juhi in particular appears sweet and innocent. Aamir's boyish charm helps us get over his inexperience as an actor. The songs remain magical and are still popular. The second half becomes progressively darker as the romance is threatened. The final section is hackneyed and the film suffers because of it. Still quite watchable.Overall 7/10
Mohsin Khan (ci03mak) Just want to say that this movie was a major breakthrough in the 1980's. When I watched this for the first time, I was 9 years of age and I was living in Pakistan at that time. Very soon after it was released in Pakistan, it became a major hype throughout the neighbourhood. Every kid on the block was singing songs from this movie and it soon channeled itself into my heart as well and make its place there. I would recommend this movie to everybody, regardless of taste because it accomodates all possible tastes. This movie has a lot of aesthetic value for me and its definitely a watcher. Don't miss this one if you haven't already seen it.Ghost Writer
shailley The 80's were dominated by films based on action themes or crude comedies. Qayamat se Qayamat tak (QSQT) came as a whiff of fresh air. The story is simple - there are two warring families and all hell breaks loose when Aamir and Juhi who are from these families fall in love. Basically an Indianised version of "Romeo and Juliet". The beauty of the film lies in the treatment of the theme. This was Aamir's first film , and he looks stunningly innocent. The music is sweet and adds great value to the film. A really pleasant experience.
