This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

I can't say I've ever been apart of the BMX crowd, but that certainly doesn't stop "Rad" from delivering the goods. What's really amusing about this movie is that it doesn't take long for its weaknesses to somehow become strengths, and that's all part of the charm. It's familiar (The Karate Kid, E.T.), it's bizarre (was that a school dance or a disco scene?) and I get a smile from seeing Canada as small-town America. But this is the kind of underdog story you can't help but like, and that's not even covering the movie's greatest weapon: the music. Farnham's "Thunder In Your Heart" is every bit the '80s time capsule that is "Rad". It's a fun movie.7/10

Born in 91', this movie somehow manages to make me miss the 80's. and I think this is the main point that I felt watching the movie, is its sheer simplicity and innocence. Its like one of those movies you see on Disney channel, except its so genuinely made that you can't help but like it. From the quirky characters of Cru's sister, to the deep connection that somehow arises between the out-of-town Christian and the locally raised Cru, this film has a lot to offer for the viewers to pass their boring Sunday hours away. I think it'd be great to watch with a date.To convey the feeling you get when watching this film to the mainstream, its very much like The Goonies, or maybe even E.T, except not as expensive of sets (was ET expensive?.) What I mean is, it makes wonderful use of the natural landscapes, save the race tracks and all. I love "hick" and rural towns, so it was great. I felt like I was riding a bike in those old sunny days as a child, not a trace of clouds in the sky.Rather than being literal here, I'm just trying to convey the fun feeling you get watching this movie; a feeling you CERTAINLY cannot get from recent films. This is a movie that was able invite smiles BECAUSE it was in the 80's, and this is what makes this movie that much more precious.

Well before X Games was even thought of or heard of "Rad" was in theaters. I was young when the movie came out and my memory of the entire movie is a bit hazy, but what I do remember was good. As young as I was when I watched it I would not have known good acting from bad, but I remember the cool stunts he was trying and his determination to do the back flip on the bike (which is a standard stunt now). Also, how could anyone forget the scene from the school dance where he did variable stunts to the song "Give me an Angel".Rad is most likely a cult classic if it is anything at all, very few have watched it and probably even fewer will remember it. It is another iconic symbol of the great 80's.
