Dorathen Better Late Then Never
Maidexpl Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
wbswetnam The movie theater serial "Radar Men from the Moon" is a 12 episode action series, each episode of which lasts about 10 minutes I think. The basic plot is that a dying civilization on the moon wishes to take over the Earth, so they begin their preparations by sending a small advance guard to cause mayhem on our planet before the full-scale invasion. The US government assigns Captain Cody and his rocket pack to stop the evil henchmen before they can proceed further. The dialog is kept to a minimum since this is an action series intended for the 7 to 13 year old crowd (those children are in their late 60s to early 70s now - scary thought) and it is pretty much one action scene after another. The cliffhangers at the end of each episode are miraculously resolved at the beginning of the next episode as the hero Commander Cody works a plan to outwit the moonmen and their evil earthling co-conspirators. Overall not a bad adventure series actually in my opinion, considering the limited budget and the limits on special effects at the time... they certainly didn't have computer graphics to insert back then. But why "Radarmen" in the title? I don't remember seeing any radars. There are some ray guns and moonmen and spaceships and rocketpacks, but no radars. Hmmm... go figure.
cshep If you can remember when outer space was so near and yet VERY far away, then you might want to view this Republic look at good vs. evil fantasy science fiction . Commander Cody(George Wallace) is asked to investigate mysterious bombings, that are destroying vital transportation venues, and buildings. He has this flying suit that goes up when you turn the dial to up and vice versa, great technology . and a space ship too !Graber the Henchman(Clayton Moore) is using a secret weapon delivered from the MOON, to create havoc, and make way for an invasion. This ray gun he is using is very powerful ans can destroy anything aimed at .For 13 Chapters, Commander Cody and his cohorts Ted Richards(William Bakewell), Joan Gilbert( Aline Towne) along with Hank(Wilson Wood) Cody's pilot, battle the forces of evil, in dramatic fashion. O.K., O.K., these plots don't always make sense, but in the 1950's , it was fun Saturday afternoon entertainment! The truth is Clayton Moore(THE Lone Ranger) steals the show as the bad guy !!! He kicks Codys ass more times than I can count .Which is worth the price of admission !Every Chapter ends on a Cliff Hanger and solved the following week .So , if you like to be amused by a glimpse of the supposed future, 1950's style, try Radar Men from the Moon , and get your flying suit on, it is quite a ride . I gave it a 5 out of 10.
rabmstr This show is awesome!!! Never did I believe that a fight with scientists could be so hilarious. Almost every three episodes the gangster-like henchmen break into Commando Cody's lab and an all-out fist-fight ensues. The great thing (and funniest) is that the fighting is so unrealistic. Everybody takes a punch to the face without even being phased. Awesome!!! Of course, the gangsters always win because Commando Cody's sidekick gets knocked out and the gangsters start double-teaming. If only they used the same technique they use to get out of the dramatic ending of each episode. By this I mean jumping. NO JOKE...75% of the time they jump to get out of a tight spot. These points aren't bad...in fact they make it all the better.
tedg Spoilers herein. This is rather dreary and of historical interest only. But what history! Its amazing how quickly we adopted standard conventions pertaining to rockets, rayguns and such. One convention has fallen by the wayside: gangsters in cahoots with anti-government forces. The rocket suit and helmet would later be copied for 'Rocketeer.' The Commander Cody character plays a major role in the forthcoming (as I write this) final installment of the Star Wars saga.Ted's Evaluation -- 1 of 3: You can find something better to do with this part of your life.
