PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Brennan Camacho Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Lee Eisenberg The always irreverent, always in-your-face Ricky Gervais talks about a number of topics in "Ricky Gervais: Humanity": celebrities, animal rights and the general question of what should get considered funny. My favorite part was his comment on the angry tweet that he got from a fundamentalist Christian. It's times like these that make Gervais more necessary than ever (along with Michelle Wolf, and the other comedians who tear down ignorance). I hope to see a lot more from him!
Hazelwoc In a way Ricky is around 40 years too late, his comedy is blunt, forceful and controversial, and comparisons with someone like Peter Cook are not misplaced.Underneath the awkward exterior lies a thoughtful and angry man. Which for comedy is good. Invariably and ironically some people will miss the point of this show. He is using the vehicle of comedy to illustrate that our opinions and beliefs which lead us to laugh or be offended vary from person to person. It is this which is the basis for our humanity because it governs who we are and what we do. This show is not about him but about his audience, and if it makes us think a little about who we are then all the better.
Majikat Ohhhhhhh! Such a big fan of Ricky Gervais, I even tried to get tickets for this tour and they sold out too quickly. We all know what we're in for when it comes to Ricky Gervais, we love the shock value, the controversy and the non pc humour, but i cringed pretty much all the way through this at where those boundaries were pushed. Is there any boundary left? Of course I'll return to Gervais any time he brings out a new comedy. But think I'll stay away from the stand up.
bratto "If I say I'm a chimp, then I am a chimp" is problematic. First, talk to a gender specialist. They will tell you gender is in the mind. The species to which one belongs is not. The chromosome argument doesn't apply, either, as there are all kinds of exceptions. Here's the thing: would he dare to use the "n" word to make fun of black people? I very much doubt it (Bill Maher just recently got in trouble for it). But the transgender community is an easier target, and simply comparing belonging to a gender different from the one you show with thinking that you're a chimp is not only offensive but it is downright destructive.
