StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Theo Robertson Watching this animated film by Nick Khoo I was struck by the animated look it shares with SOUTH PARK and this is in no way a criticism . The animation is very basic but is effective as a man in a car becomes frustrated by the car in front of him . The story itself is constructed like a sketch leading up to a massive absurd punch line and if there's a criticism it's down to the fact it's rather slight and little exists beyond setting up the ending . Perhaps somewhat conscious of this Nick does try and bring a large amount of scope and for a story that starts off with someone sitting in a car in front of some traffic lights it is somewhat surprising how the story pans out and ends which did amuse me
bob the moo Clearly inspired by the many idiots on the road who think that honking their horns in static, backed up traffic will somehow make a difference to anything, this very short film sees one such person stuck in traffic, endlessly blasting his horn at those around him who are just as stuck and helpless as he is.This is a very simple little revenge piece and it is animated in a side- on view which is reminiscent of 8bit video games (but less blocky). The joke is a sequence which makes up the second half of the film (ie, about 30-40 seconds), where our "honker" gets a rather unusual comeuppance. The initial "flight" he takes reminded me of Monty Python animation to a point but from there it is just a matter of escalating the gap a couple of times. It does this well and I found it pretty funny all the way to a satisfyingly silly conclusion. This is a very small animation from Khoo (someone just starting out and playing with live-action features, animations and other forms) and it shows a good sense of humor and talent to make such a little throwaway short. It is tiny, but it is funny too.
