Brendon Jones It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
TheLittleSongbird As a huge Scooby Doo fan, naturally I wanted to see Scooby Doo Goes Hollywood. I will admit I was a little disappointed by it, but I didn't think it was bad. The music is great and true to the style of the decade it's set in, and I liked the song sung by Fred, Daphne and Velma and the duet between Scooby and Cher(ie). The voice work is still excellent, particularly from Don Messick, Casey Kasem and Frank Welker, and I enjoyed the spoofs on Happy Days, Charlie's Angels, Sonny and Cher and Superman. My favourite is the one on Sound of Music, which is still very funny. The characters still have their likability. Scooby and Shaggy still make me smile and laugh, and while underused Fred, Daphne and Velma manage to not be dull.Scooby Doo Goes Hollywood isn't perfect however. My feelings on the animation were mixed. The colours are lively and plentiful and some of the background art is nice, but the editing could have done with being more fluid and some of the character designs are not as strong as they could have been. The concept was intriguing and it was very interesting at the start. However, the story is rather thin and predictable, and perhaps rushed too, with too much focus on the jokes and spoofs in alternative to a coherent storyline.I was also mixed on the writing, most of the jokes and spoofs are very funny, but there are also some lame puns along the way and one or two of the spoofs due to feeling skimmed over don't quite make the grade. All in all, a decent enough special, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. 6/10 Bethany Cox
richard.fuller1 One, I remember this special. It aired on Sunday. I'm surprised to see it aired so close to Christmas tho. Two, it was awful.Three, the only reason I gave it a 2 rating is because I always remembered Scooby doing Sound of Music and he fell off the mountain when he started singing. I thought that was funny even 30 years ago.So what exactly was this? Clearly this is the missing link between the overhauling of the Scooby Doo format (which Mark Evanier, creator of Scrappy Doo, has said he felt had run its course) from Mystery sleuths to . . . . whatever was deemed better.Often resembling the old WB Porky Pig and Daffy Duck cartoons where Porky was going to go into movies, it is pretty much the same setup here, with Shaggy and Scooby. As others have noted, we are given various TV show and movie imitations, among them, Happy Days, Charlie's Angels (how does this one figure into the history of Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels, which premiered about a year earlier?), Superman, Love Boat and clearly Donny & Marie (renamed Scooby and Cherie. She was obviously a merger of Marie Osmond, Cher and Charo, to an extent, but the female character was straight up Marie Osmond, especially as this was the same network of Donny and Marie). No, it was not good. It was pathetic. Scooby needs mysteries the same way mysteries will receive Scooby. When Scooby Doo did stray from its crime-solving on Saturday mornings, it merely ventured into Huckleberry Hound-HOkey Wolf territory (meeting witches and the seven dwarfs and all). Not very original.Basically, this cartoon then stands as being ahead of its time. Scooby was destined for greater things. The cartoon just couldn't envision what. The cartoon just couldn't see Scooby Mysteries still being produced 25 years later, and likewise two motion pictures doing extremely well.Give Scooby and the gang another dozen years, and I imagine they will be engaging in a new venture; probably live action in primetime TV.Just so long as those meddling kids, 'zoiks', 'jinkies' and the scooby snacks are there, as well as a mystery to solve, it should do just fine.Need any proof how valuable any of those ingredients might be? Just check out this little cartoon to see.
Stephen Holloway The special begins with Scooby and Shaggy fed up with their Saturday morning lineup. As the special continues Scooby gets less and less sure about his new role after all of Shaggy's and Scooby's attempt for Scooby to get more famous fails. All of the Scooby Doo cast members from the Scooby Doo Show are back and are surprised about Scooby's decision. The special also spoofs several 70's films and television series like Happy Days, Sonny and Cher, Charles Angels, and an few more. An song was also sung by Frank (Fred), Pat (Velma), and Heather (Daphine) as they and eventually his fans miss Scooby. It was an team effort as Scooby decided to return to his own show. Overall, it wasn't bad but still, Unless you love Scooby don't watch it. Unless you want to. Oh by the way, In the spoofs, they should have the stars of the series they were spoofing to help out as well.Final Scooby Score: 8 out of 10 Final animation score: 6 out of 10
Movie Nuttball When this show was on I watched it every time I could! I thought that the characters were really funny and all had great personalities. The animation in My opinion was crisp, clean, and really clear. Not to mention beautiful! Most of the characters in this show are hilarious like the Looney Tunes characters that we all love. in My opinion these characters are the funnies and talented ever seen. In fact, The things that goes on in this series' cartoons are in My opinion nuts which that is what makes them hilarious! There are so many to like and laugh at and the silly things they do! If you like the original Looney Tunes then I strongly recommend that you watch this show!
