This is Shakira, as bare as she gets. Before the was the blonde, curvy, curly haired hip shaking English singing pop phenomenon, there was the black/scarlet haired hip shaking, Spanish/Portuguese singing pop phenomenon knows as Shakira. Before she became known to the English speaking world, she was known to the Spanish and Portuguese singing world as the wonder-girl who riveted us with such super-hits as Ojos Asi, No Creo, Ciega Sordomuda, Un Poco De Amor, Inevitable, Estoy Aqui and more... Lucky enough for us, MTV South America thought her enough of a star and vocal prowess to book her on their popular Unplugged series. Shakira went on to win a Grammy for her episode on the show in which she sang most of her hits and then some, completely unplugged. The rest as they say is history. And that's what this DVD is all about. A must for all her fans and admirers.

I'd heard Shakira before and liked her songs but not been a great fan. But I viewed the DVD on a whim and was wowed. This was a really great performance, very intense and good musicians, changing pace and style. The "rock" side of her music came through strongly. And it made more impact than hearing even the CD soundtrack of the same, because she, and the band, are up there for the performance. And the chemistry of the live performance with some very crunchy arrangements makes the studio work I've heard flat by comparison. If you've listened to her albums and stopped to pay attention to her lyrics, and wondered why such wonderful lyrics seem a little too pop, then watch the DVD and see some deeper power put into the songs.Production quality is good. Color is vivid, editting is only occasionally too chopped up, audience and stage balance well in a small venue, picture looks beautiful on a big screen. Sound mix (I listened to the 5.1 Dolby) is mostly front, where the band is, and very clean. There is only one major extra which is a fairly long making-of video with interviews of Shakira, Estefan, Luis, and some of the other musicians, talking through many of the songs and arrangements and doing various rehearsals. If you liked the performance, you'll want to see the making-of too. BTW, if you can't keep up with her in Spanish, turn on the English subtitles. So far, this DVD for me outclasses any of her CDs.

When I first watched this film I lost my breath. I was at that time a big fan of Shakira. This film just did the rest for me. I'm a "Shakiboy" forever. The way she owns the stage is perfect. The camera crew have made sure the the magic about Shakira continues out of the VCR or DVD player. It's just perfect. What else is there to say?I love this film. If you don't own it, then go out and buy it.

There is not much to say about an unplugged video or movie, but I'm commenting it because is the best that I've seen. Shakira is more than a great performer, up on the stage is like a god or something out of this world that you can't take your eyes or ears away, the sound and music is just splendid, but the voice of this woman is perfect and shows a big strength that fix very well to the dancing beautiful Shakira. The song "Si Te Vas", the second, is one of the best of all Shakira's discography and the lyric of "Octavo Dia" is so beautiful that can go through your soul, and obviously we can see Shakira's movements in the last and arabic song "Ojos Así", that we all can we listen in the last album: "Laundry Service", but in english ("Eyes Like Yours"). In this Unplugged we can listen almost all songs of Shakira's fourth disc "Dónde están los Ladrones?", which is the second international Shakira's album, and it has a song from "Pies Descalzos": "Estoy aqui" that is a great stronger new version. Through this performance we can listen all new versions wich makes it a real powerfull movie, film or album creation. Shakira: MTV Unplugged rocks, if you haven't seen it, is your time to search for it and get inside this heaven.
