In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

I totally loved the Sharpe series i just wished they had made them all. Sean Bean and Daragh O'Malley along with the chosen ones made it a great show to watch for hours and hours if you can get the whole set. The ones that are missing are Sharpe's Tiger, Sharpe's Triumph, Sharpe's Trafalgar, Sharpe's Prey, Sharpe's Havoc, Sharpe's Gold, Sharpe's Escape, Sharpe's Fury, and Sharpe's Devil. Now those would have folded out a totally great epic had they been produced. If they had followed the whole book line for the epic series they would have made it totally great. Also i would love to have them make Cromwell's short stories on Sharpe incorporated into this series.

Okay, this i a bad film! Passing on the fact that Rifleman Cooper disappeared prominence after Sharpe's Gold and so is ill-qualifeid to comment on any of the post-Sharpes Gold stories, but it dismisses the need to watch the series. Also it tells how Sharpe lost Teresa! That is the very reason why many of Sharpe's relationships (until he gets married) never last longer the one episode! But the series is the seed for this so it is much more use to a viewer to watch the series! As well as cooper being s mere shadow of his former tough self! This is a rubbish fast-forward through the life story one of the greatest soldier's in Wellingtons armies (okay he's fictitious, but still!) If you must spend 60 quid on the complete Sharpe collection sell this as soon as possible!

Sharpe has always been my favorite TV series, and i was over the moon when i heard the box set was coming out. Sean Bean and Daragh O Malley are the greatest acting duo in history and for anyone who hasn't seen any of the Sharpe's, i strongly recommend you do. I think when you finish this entire legendary set of Sharpes you will see why Sean bean is the big movie star that he is, and when i watched it for the first time i couldn't see why Daragh O Malley hasn't been in more films, he is a truly great actor and has the potential to be a massive celebrity. i am so glad the new one has come out and i will buy it the first day it gets released, thats how addicted you get to Sharpe when you see the box set.

The Legend is a kind of summary of the entire Sharpe series. Essentially, it is clips from the series strung together to summarize the life of Sharpe, with a narrator who fought with Sharpe acting as the link. Sharpe's rise from the ranks to become an officer is chronicled. He is a competent soldier and officer in a time when many commissions in the British Army were simply bought i.e. the 1700-1800s.The series itself is far superior. This will give you a sense of what the series is about, but the series itself is much more enjoyable. If you enjoyed the Hornblower series, then you'll enjoy this.
