Kattiera Nana I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Beystiman It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Wizard-8 The B movie studio Nu Image has made some good direct to video movies over the years. Unfortunately, "Skeleton Man" is not one of them. In fact, I think that this could be the worst effort to date that's come out of the company. For starters, it looks really cheap. Everything about the movie looks real tacky, especially the title monster, which looks like it was put together from Halloween product offered at a dollar store. The characters are just as unengaging - there is precious little development done with these people. They are simply bait for the monster. The movie is also badly directed. It's slow and endless, and the, ahem, horror sequences have absolutely no shocks or even serviceable splatter. But I think the worst thing about the movie is that there is NO real explanation for why the title figure has appeared and why it's doing what it's doing. Does it have to do with the archaeological dig mentioned in the first scene? Does it have to do with the Native American the team finds in the woods at one point? It's never made clear. This movie is junk in every way you can think of. If it had been unintentionally funny, there might have been a reason to see it, but this is one bad movie that's so bad it's bad.
isaged I'm a fan of what might be called lesser horror movies. Generally I review them when I believe that other reviewers have been unjust to them. However, although I enjoyed Skeleton Man, it has some problems. The biggest one is that its main episode, involving the skeleton man's inconsiderate treatment of the eight special forces members, is accompanied by briefer "supporting" episodes that just don't support what's going on in the main one. For instance, how does a rather nasty Native American find black garbage bags to wear, and also find an invulnerable horse? Another is that these experienced military people discover fairly soon that the skeleton man is invulnerable to bullets, yet keep firing at him/it. Firing so much and so often that I'm surprised that they could possibly have packed in all that ammo. Finally, what possible successful effect could the fiery conclusion have had? That said, some of the we-have-been-warned Violence scenes are excellent, the mountain scenery is lovely, and enough gore is spilled to fertilize these woods for some time to come. The explosions are generally fine, and … despite what some reviews have written … the acting was acceptable
TheLittleSongbird I'll be honest, I knew from the idea that it was not going to be great, but I saw it because I wanted to see if Skeleton Man could at least be better as a movie than the idea it sprung from. No chance of that! Although I have seen about 5 bad SyFy movies in a row, Skeleton Man in my opinion has to be the worst. There have been worse-looking SyFy movies before, but that doesn't excuse the far-too-rapid editing, dull scenery and terrible make-up. There are countless continuity errors as well, including blood appearing and disappearing and scars on one side of a face and one minute on the other side. And Skeleton Man is a joke, and a bad, cheap and completely lacking in menace, and I do think the film could've done at least with an adequate explanation of how the horse could change colour at will. The dialogue is very unfocused and awkward with nothing standing out, the story is an insult even to the word threadbare and is handled in an un-suspenseful and predictable manner complete with numerous and inexcusable mistakes in regard to the military(furthermore showing that SyFy don't do their research properly) and the character are underdeveloped clichés. The acting is poor, with a wooden Casper Van Dien and Michael Rooker trying hard but really this role is beneath him. The climax is completely uninteresting, in fact Skeleton Man's sole bright spot is the protracted scene where Rooker falls down a steep hill. Other than that, the movie is utter garbage. 1/10 Bethany Cox
TdSmth5 Movies can be bad in many ways- bad acting, bad direction, bad or no story, bad music. But this movie is bad in an uncommon way. It looks as if they ran out of money and had nothing left for post-production. The music but particularly the editing are a disaster, rendering this movie not fit for release. Some military guys are killed bloodily by some creature dressed up as the grim reaper with a very oversize gown and hood. This creature on a horse can further travel through wormholes in space to end up somewhere else, usually, 5 feet further.A team of special forces is sent to deal with the situation. This team of experts include a bunch of skinny girls who look like 3rd rate catalog models- they include sniper experts and so on.One by one the creature, will dispatch them in gory ways. There's plenty of gore and violence, there are a lot of pyro effects. That's pretty much it for the good aspects of this movie. This creature we learn is some type of native American who went crazy and gained superpowers somehow. The crew seemed to have money, there are helicopters and aerial shot in this movie. The villain is pretty ridiculous. And the way the story is told it just makes no sense. It would be interesting to see a report on what happened to this movie. Like I said, the resources, the casting is there but somehow it just didn't work.
