Absolutely Brilliant!

Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

You know when, sometimes, a movie has - on paper - all that is needed to make a pretty good movie, but it just still isn't really good..? Like Pan, or John Carter, and lots of others. This is one of those times. This movie has action, guns, shooting, werewolves, blood, a couple of decent actors. But it still manages to be pretty boring.I'm no fan of werewolves, in fact, 'An American Werewolf in London' might be the only werewolf flick I've ever really enjoyed, but yeah, this one takes the cake. It's just bad. Boring. They try to have a little drama in here, you know: staring, "You've lied to me!" bu-hu, little kids crying, etc. The problem is just that I really couldn't care less about these characters. Like not. at. all.The best thing about the whole movie is that the technical part of the gunfights look pretty good, except for the missing kick-back, but that's on the actors. The make up is alright for the most part, but they look more like hairy alien vampires than werewolves. I like that their arms are really think, but I love muscles so.Yeah, skip this one.

The ONLY reason I saw this movie is because the late great Stan Winston did the werewolf makeup. Admittedly, the makeup does look great, but the movie blows that by shooting it with shaky cam and poor lighting. The characters are nonexistent. Several don't even have names and only exist to die.(Though I will give the film credit for avoiding the temptation to kill the black guy first.) The plot, when its not borrowing from other, better films, is nonsensical and moronic. The film opens with a completely pointless scene featuring characters who never show up in this movie again. When the first scene is pointless, you know we have a problem. If it weren't for New Moon, Skinwalkers would be the worst werewolf movie ever made. Avoid at all costs.

All in all, this is not a very bad movie, you can watch it once or twice except for the end. Wow, how can someone be so much out of his mind to end the story like that - it looked like a mixture between "and they lived happily ever after", "Natural born killers" and a documentary for blood donors. Do you really think this poor boy will have enough blood to cure ALL skinwalkers? And are his mother and redeemed father going to run a hospital for people suffering from skinwalker-ia? I hope there won't be a next sequel, where we can follow how their business is going. There were some amusing scenes though, like that with "Stop or my mom will shoot!" feat. the old lady and her hidden big gun. Or the scene with the eagle crushing the truck window (although when I think twice, this sucks a bit). And we have OF COURSE a nice looking female trio - Rhona Mitra, Sarah Carter and Natassia Malthe, although you'd better watch Sarah and Natassia in "Dead or Alive".
