"Whatever you're aiming at...make sure you're prepared to kill it." If you're in the mood for a solid Action/Thriller, Sleepless is a sleeper that is worth seeing!! I came in with very little interest...basic plot and a bit slow in the beginning. I was halfway through before I realized I was wanting to see what happened next. You know what? take a shot at this if you don't see anything else out there.

leonblackwood Review: Although this movie had an simplistic plot, which we have seen many times before, I still found this film quite entertaining, and the action was pretty decent. It is a bit corny in places, and the ending was quite predictable but it's intense throughout and the acting from the whole cast was believable. Jamie Foxx plays a cop, Vincent, who robs a ruthless drug dealer, Rubino (Dermot Mulroney), with his partner Sean (T.I.). When he realises who he stole the drugs from, he's immediately worried about his families safety and he tries to cut a deal with Rubino, who kidnaps his son for his drugs. For some unknown reason, he hides the drugs in a toilet, so he can bargain for his son but the internal affairs are one step behind him, and they take the drugs, which means that Vincent isn't able to get to his son back. Officer Bryant played by Michelle Monaghan, is on the hunt for Vincent, while he attempts to get to his son and the drugs that were taken by Bryant. With time against him, and his sons mum Dena (Gabrielle Union) asking uncomfortable questions about his sons whereabouts, Vincent is forced to take matters into his own hands, risking his job and his life in the process. It does seem like a "made for TV" type of movie but the double crossing from the beginning to end, leaves you questioning who he can trust. The action was surprisingly entertaining, even from Monaghan who didn't shy from throwing a few punches but it's not the type of film that become an all time classic. With that aside, it's still worth a watch, and you can't fault it in the intensity department but I was left feeling empty when the movie finished, and I won't be watching it again in a hurry. Watchable!Round-Up: This movie was directed by Baran Bo Odar (What a name!), 39, who also brought you The Silence and Who Am I in 2014. For his third film, he done a half decent job and he was lucky to get some decent actors on board but he still needs to try and do something original, so he can make his stamp in Hollywood. Jamie Foxx, who recently starred in the popular Baby Driver, has had a pretty bad track record lately with Annie, which was quite bad, and the Amazing Spiderman 2, which was also not that good but he was funny in the Horrible Bosses franchise and Django Unchained and White House Down was watchable. He's due to star in the latest Mike Tyson biopic, which is in development and he's going to play Little John in the new Robin Hood movie, starring Taron Egerton and Jamie Dornan, so he has a lot to look forward to, if the movies actually turn out to be any good. I've never really rated him as an actor but he is gradually warming to me, and his choice of movies have been pretty successful to date, even though this movie didn't smash the box office.Budget: $30million Worldwide Gross: $32millionGenre: Action, Crime, Thriller Cast: Jamie Foxx, Michelle Monaghan, Scoot McNairy, Dermot Mulroney, T.J., David Harbour, Gabrielle Union and Octavius J. They think everything's gone smoothly, until Vincent's son Thomas (Octavius J. Johnson) is kidnapped by a casino manager cum crime lord, working in association with Novak, who informs him that the money he stole included a stash of drugs that both parties need to recover. Vincent and his son then find themselves plunged into a deadly battle of wits, in which they are pursued by a relentless FBI operative, Bryant (Michelle Monaghan) with a personal beef to settle.The dazzling, seductive neon lights of Las Vegas are used as a backdrop in this thriller from director Baran bo Odar, in which the gambling capital's seedy underbelly is brought to life. While this is certainly a premise with lots of potential, it would have been better brought to life in a much less pedestrian, workmanlike film, that serves no real purpose other than to pass the time and is put together in the most connect the dots manner imaginable. While the plot is full of twists and turns, none of them keep you on the edge of your seat.As a gritty, no nonsense action film, it's suitably drained and the script has a notable sense of humour bypass. It's just a predictable, seen it all before tale, devoid of any suspense or originality. Towards the end, it even transcends into ridiculousness, with some pretty big suspension of disbelief required. It's not badly made enough to be called terrible, but it's not interesting or exciting enough to rise to any great heights, or be remembered long after you've seen it.This is what you might call a 'red eye' film, one to catch on a late night flight when you're about to nod off. Not so much Sleepless, more like Restless. **

eddie_baggins Sleepless, they really should've called this movie "Sleeping", as it's exactly what the audience will be doing as they trudge through this 90 minute thriller that fails to ignite in any way, shape or form as Jamie (real name Eric Marlon Bishop) Foxx's in over his head cop Vincent Down's goes to a hotel/casino and then spends of the rest of the film's running time there as he battles baddies and try's to right his wrongs.A remake of the 2011 French film Sleepless Night, Sleepless has the potential to be a high concept action/thriller with twists, turns, bumps and bruises but as directed by Switzerland based Baran bo Odar, this bargain bin worthy experience is an utter waste of story potential and talent potential as Foxx is joined by slumming it co-stars such as Michelle Monaghan and Scott McNairy (sporting what could well be the years worst feature film hair-do), who all try to no avail to plug the many various holes in this sinking ship.It's been some years since our last Foxx hit, we go all the way back to Django Unchained for this, and Sleepless does feel as though we are seeing Foxx enter into new territory where he begins to find himself headlining rather lethargic procedurals. A shame for an Oscar winning actor that can do and should do much better than this film that surely couldn't have read well on paper.It has been many a year too since Monaghan has found herself making use of her considerable talent, while Scoot McNairy continues on a recent run of impressive and standout turns in not particularly great features but you get the sense the hardworking character actor is quite close to delivering a genuinely unmissable performance in a film worthy of it.Other elements of Sleepless are barely worth discussing as Odar try's but fails to bring energy into the film. Bad guys do bad guy things, cops try to do good things and often fail and Gabrielle Union gets angry at Foxx's Vincent for being a bad daddy, it's truly hard for the watcher to care as no one here is likable enough or disposable enough to invest in and as is the usual with films of this ilk, it's not hard to see where things are heading with about 30 minutes of dull action still to transpire.Final Say – Taking place in Sin City itself Las Vegas, Sleepless commits the mortal thriller sin of being utterly boring, predictable and overly pedestrian. Barely making use of its big name cast and doing nothing we haven't seen before and seen done a lot better, Sleepless is a dull, forgettable and lifeless event that should be avoided at all costs.1 bag of sugar out of 5
