It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.

It's like watching a robot your supposed to feel bad for. He speaks with long pauses like he's some dramatic, pretentious being. The Bible didn't show him this way... He's not funny, likable, or anything. He's always sad and dramatic and "deep." How did jesus in this movie get anyone to follow him? He was so boring.

Please, you make a film about Jesus Christ, and you omit in the Last Supper--- THE moment where Jesus talks about the new and ever lasting covenant of his BLOOD that was shed for your SINS. You leave out the part where he says Make disciples, teaching everything I have commanded, BAPTIZING in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus does not go into the tomb and kiss Lazarus, he calls him out! He does not tell Peter Before dawn you will deny me 3 times....He said before the rooster crows you will deny me three times...What's wrong with using the words Christ actually said? Too boring? This movie tells lies...I had to double check my Bible several times because I knew dialogue was miss quoted...So many errors....too sad....and the most important message: If anyone will come after me, you must DENY yourself pick up your cross and follow me. And you want me to get excited about this movie? Then again you have fake Joel Osteen, fake Rick Warren, fake Delia Reese, commenting on how wonderful this movie is? Thank God he chastised me to read my Bible so I don't get duped. Being a Christian is not saying some little prayer and crying when you listen to some Christian song in a concert or in church, it is DENYING YOURSELF---- you are giving up everything, all worldly wants (Joel Osteen, listen up!) needs and your desires, and give it all to God and let HIM have his will and way with you, "Christian"!-----Not a very rosy, lovely-dovely, petals in the wind message uh?

This film tells the life of Jesus Christ as a story. Directed by Christopher Spencer, its a spin-off from the series "The Bible", of the "History Channel". The main role is played by Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado. This film has been subject of negative reviews for allegedly not do a literal reading of the biblical texts. Evangelical Christians were furious, conservative Catholics too. Some of the criticism has logic but others are pure religious fanaticism of people for whom the Bible is untouchable, no matter how many times it has been mistranslated, amputated (in pages or even entire books), rewritten and censored until get the version that we have in our house. This is the problem when we talk about movies with religious themes: people just aren't able to see beyond their beliefs. When I knew that "History Channel" would make this spin-off, I knew immediately that it was just to make the most profit of a production that had been very expensive. Since a few years ago, the contents of this TV channel (at least here, in the western corner of Europe) has had less and less quality (the programs come from America and speak only about pawn shops, cars, scrap and theories, absolutely idiotic, about ancient extraterrestrials). So I loved the original series, it was much better than the programs they normally broadcast. I didn't expect something too glued to the biblical text but a tale, inspired in the concept "Bible told as a story". The film follows this model, telling Jesus'story from birth to ascension. Purists may not like it but, nowadays, this material can be very useful, drawing attentions to the Bible in a world when every less people have it in home. The film does a very regular job telling the life of Jesus. Its greatest sin is still too much like the TV series, as if it were an expanded chapter. The special, visual and sound effects aren't cinematic enough, the soundtrack is not particularly relevant. As a movie film its bad, but as a TV film it works well. The actors, as expected, are absurdly unknown to most of the public. This includes the protagonist, the Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado, who made Jesus Christ. Like most of the Portuguese, I followed Morgado's career, who gained fame in our country through television soap operas and series, and a few Portuguese movies where he participated. Its not a bad choice for the role, although I think that Jesus will probably have been much darker than Morgado (the actor even has light brown hair), like most of the Jews.

the expectations of the public are only problems for this comfortable film. it not propose any new idea, it not change perception or represents a religious or historical lesson . part of a series, it propose another adaptation of the life of Jesus. without have ambition to be more than a soft exercise about the life and sacrifice of Jesus. it is difficult to blame it or admire. because , far to be bad movie, it is an ordinary sketch, sentimental but not convincing, nice but not useful for sustain emotions, interesting for compare with the many films about same subject but not enough for ignore the desire of director to impress in easy manner. a film who could remain in memory only for the presence of the lead actor. but that is far to be a virtue.
