Supelice Dreadfully Boring

ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

Roxie The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Michael Ledo The film is about the "first date" of Michelle Robinson (Tika Sumpter) and her underling Barrack Obama (Parker Sawyers) although I suspect it went nothing like this. What the film does is to give us the family history of the two candidates and a look into their character, mostly good, and only a little critical. Not an action film and if you don't want to hear conversations between this couple, you need to go elsewhere, because that is most of the feature. Takes place in 1989 and they spent the day together. They visited an art exhibition, attended a community meeting, where Obama "parted the waters," and watched "Do The Right Thing." The film had its moments of humor, yet each candidate is shown as being serious and dedicated. Tika Sumpter nailed the part in looks and voice. Parker Sawyers- not so much, and I will leave it at that.The film is inspirational for Michelle Obama supporters.Guide: 1 F-word.

adonis98-743-186503 The film chronicles the summer 1989 afternoon when the future President of the United States of America Barack Obama wooed his future First Lady Michelle Obama on a first date across Chicago's South Side. Southside with You feels like a bad fanfiction about love between Barack Obama and Michelle Obama and although the actors are alright the film it's uninteresting and boring and it feels like it has copied other movies as well such as Before Sunrise, Remember Me and every film about love than you can possible think of it feels fake and it looks fake i would advice you to stay way from this film as much as you can (3/10).

Hellmant 'SOUTHSIDE WITH YOU': Four Stars (Out of Five)A romantic drama biopic, based on the true story of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama's first date (if you can call it that). The film stars Parker Sawyers, as the future President, and Tika Sumpter (who you may remember from the 'RIDE ALONG' movies), as the future First Lady. It was written and directed by debut feature filmmaker Richard Tanne. The movie has received rave reviews from critics, and it's been a successful Box Office hit (at indie theaters). I enjoyed it.The story is set in Chicago, in the summer of 1989 (on one day). A young business associate, named Barack Obama (Sawyers), takes a young lawyer, named Michelle Robinson (Sumpter), out for the afternoon. Barack tries to court her, the entire time, but Michelle insists it's not a date; since the two work together (and she thinks it would be inappropriate). They go to an art exhibit together, a community meeting, and a movie ('DO THE RIGHT THING'). The film is a sweet little romance, and a nice little character study as well. It's definitely slow-paced, and nothing we haven't seen before, but because it's about the President, it seems a lot more interesting. I like how the movie points out that he smoked a lot of weed, and was always late to everything; it definitely makes him seem a lot more like an everyday person (with a lot of flaws like everyone else). I also think Sawyers does an excellent job in the role (and he looks a lot like him too). Sumpter, on the other hand, looks nothing like Michelle Obama; and her performance reminded me nothing of the First Lady either. She does give a good performance though, and she looks really beautiful, in her own way, as well. If you take out the fact that the film is based on the President, and his wife, than it's definitely nothing that memorable. letuckerchicago Sweet and more soulful than expected, Southside with You is a movie about a first date. So, lots and lots of conversation between two young good looking people. If you need car crashes or stereotypical "Black talk", you're gonna be disappointed. But if a nice build up of romantic chemistry is your idea of a movie, here ya go. The leads are charming together. The Michelle character is a little arch, but her caution is well founded per one awkwardly authentic scene with co-workers. A wonderful montage of Ernie Barnes artwork and a nice song by John Legend are lovely bonuses. As the late great Roger Ebert would say, thumbs up.
