Bardlerx Strictly average movie
WillSushyMedia This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Theo Robertson I found this terminally boring . In its favour SPIRIT TRAP has a distinct lack of gore . The down side is that it is trying to concentrate on mood and atmosphere in order to hold the audience attention here it totally fails . Director David Smith thinks mood and atmosphere is entirely confined to shooting everything in very poor light and throwing the occasional loud noise in . Big mistake and no offence to Mr Smith but it's hardly surprising that his career didn't take off after this . A few hours earlier I had seen a short film from 2011 called FOXESby the Irish director Lorcan Finnegan which had me disturbed and compelled in equal measure and strictly speaking that wasn't in fact a horror film per se but the oppressive atmosphere via music and cinematography was crushing and wish I'd seen that sort of dread realised on screen here . With hindsight another problem is casting Billie Piper in the main role . I can understand the thinking of " Oh let's get an up and coming name who will be very cheap and who might have a big future in front of her " but the problem is she'll always be remembered as Rose Tyler from DOCTOR WHO . The problem is compounded by Piper's character having a shock plot turn involving a revelation about her mother and all sorts of images involving Rose and Jackie Tyler flashed through my head which constantly took me out of the film . A film I hasten to add that contains no sympathetic characters and is fairly uninvolving to start with
jason_13 Spirit Trap is a typical, contemporary ghost story where everything is a result of something horrible, that has happened in the past and most of the film's runtime is used to unlock the secret. Usually most ghost stories resemble the classic horror movies about a haunted mansion, surrounded by darkness and mystery. Spirit Trap is a modern version of The Hauting. At least the first 20-25 minutes will be very familiar and probably boring for Haunting fans.Four students receive a phone call and are offered lodging in an old, creepy house. Of course, they are all different and problems occurs immediately after the house's newest inhabitants learn about the presence of a drug dealer as their co-tenant. Later on, one of the teens fixes a spirit clock and now he is able to witness the events that has taken part many years ago. The characters are now convinced that the house is haunted by ghosts. To be honest, I watched the movie out of desperation. I didn't have the time to pick up another horror movie and Spirit Trap was the only possibility. The movie is not bad. It ain't good either. Decent horror flick for time killing. One thing that managed to surprise me was the acting. Better than I asked for. Completely unknown actors give everything to recreate realism. We should also take notice on the fact that the movie is British. In my opinion, most good horror flicks come from Britain these days. Yes, Spirit Trap is not among the good lists of great horror movies, but it could have been much worse if it looked like most American ghost stories.I applaud the idea of putting more depth into a rather dull story, but the plot loses its potential soon after the creators create sub-plots concerning the characters's past. The main girl has killed her mother, the drug dealer's wife doesn't love him and stuff like that. Cheap tries of dry, needless drama that has absolutely nothing to do with what we cheer for when it comes to ghost flicks.I won't recommend Spirit Trap to anyone, but calling it bad is a big mistake. It tries something new and even though it fails in provoking the viewer, it includes scenes that worth a look.
Sam Henderson I thought this film was going to be pretty good. When the film first began it had a good starting scene the old spooky type look which i thought was going to be some sort of plot, but no. For me with the old house reminded me of The house on the haunted hill, not half as good though, I thought terrible performances from every actor and actress 1 of the worst films I have seen made like many other British horrors lets face it we just cant pull off a good movie here in the UK. Billie Piper just cannot act to save her life I've seen better actors in soaps.I expected much much more from this thumbs down from me.I wouldn't waste anybodies time trying to entertain them with this I rate it an awful 3 out of 10.
smiley-32 Spirit Trap. The new film starring Billie Piper as one of the students who gets caught up in what appears to be a haunted house..Along with her is Tom (Luke Mably), Tina (Alsou), Nick (Sam Troughton) and Adele (Emma Catherwood).Once inside, the characters meet each other and weird things begins to happen around them. Somehow the house itself begins to unfold when they come across an old clock. Strangely enough, it counts down towards the time when something happened 100 years ago..Soon the student begin to realize that they're caught in a Spirit Trap. Everyone is some kind of spirit trapped in some kind of time warp. In order for them to escape, one must kill another another to free themselves from the old house. For me, this movie got off to a good start but then as time went on.. it just went downhill.. I felt like this whole thing wasn't gonna turn out good in the end. I think the strength of the film was that Billie Piper took the lead role for this supernatural flick. Unaware, whoever wrote the script, should've been scratching his head and think.. just by putting more better ideas to the story rather than letting it go all sloppy..Besides, it would've been better if we see more flashbacks with more details.. I see a few ones where they just last a split second. With that, it just weared itself down too much. And really what lacks the film was the acting.. The characters in the film weren't really that serious.. It's more like what you see in the theatre..Well so much for that.. Somehow 'SPIRIT TRAP' didn't live to its expectations. I was hoping there was gonna be more, but no!I guess we all know why Billie Piper decided not to go the premiere..? Maybe in her case, it sucked!Well, all-in-all.. It's a thumbs down for me..! Sorry Billie, I respect you as an actress.. But you couldn't save this one.. A disappointing 2 out of 10!
