MonsterPerfect Good idea lost in the noise
Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Dirtylogy It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Sam smith (sam_smithreview) STARGATE is the freaking greatest TV-series I've seen my whole life.It all started when a friend of mine forced me to watch two episodes with him. It was actually interesting :)Within the following 3 months I had bought and seen all of Stargate up to date. 10 seasons of Stargate SG-1 containing 214 episodes, 5 seasons of Stargate Atlantis containing 100 episodes and 2 seasons of Stargate Universe.Besides that I've seen the two Stargate movies: Stargate: Continuum and Stargate: The Ark of TruthWell, my point is that this is a freaking awesome TV-series. Worth watching! Maybe you shouldn't do it like me(watching 16 seasons and 2 movies within 3 months), but at least watch it:) Its so damn worth it.
BoxMissingno I didn't go into watching this with any real expectations, like I did previously with The Arc of Truth. So once that was out of the way, I really liked this movie. The acting was a big step up, more like what the series was like. The jokes and lines that the main actors and the other actors delivered didn't fall flat. I was glad to see that, since I was so disappointed with that in the previous movie. It was a decent return to form. The cinematography was well shot and the soundtrack was pretty well done. Both of these things added to the overall feel of the movie. As for the plot, it was rather simple... but it was still good enough and kept me interested in watching the movie.I recommend this film over The Arc of Truth. It's worth the watch.
1negevoli With notable exceptions such as Contact, The X-Files, the Twilight Zone and the first Star Wars, I basically detest scifi movies and TV. You have to be juvenile and male to tolerate them, I suspect. This dates from way back, when I watched part of the first episode of Star Trek as a little kid and it was so cheesy I never watched it again. (I watched it with my brother, who liked it! I was into dramas starring the likes of James Dean and John Cassavetes. Look it up.) The same goes for all of these other special-effects and computer-generated vehicles, like the Battlestar Gallactica and Stargate series. So why did I rent this movie? Because I thought Colin Cunningham was in it. Oh, he was in it -- for the duration of the blink of an eye. What an insult to this extraordinary actor, whose tour d' force so far has been his role as the corrupt Det. Brian Curtis in the brilliantly executed Canadian series "DaVinci's Inquest." (You know DaVinci's Inquest. Probably the best TV crime series ever produced, along with "Intelligence," another Canadian gem produced by Chris Haddocck.)The producers of this movie have a lot to answer for, to those of us who are admirers of Cunningham's acting and follow his career, because of the Major Davis "walk on" fiasco. He's the best actor in the whole darn thing and winds up on the cutting-room floor. Ah, movie producers. Ain't they stoo-pid!
lunatic1-1 Fan since the SG1 movie! It is good to see all the 'old faces', but too much yakking and not enough action. If the ship was seaworthy enough to float, where did the water come from? Jackson's solution-artificial leg, seen when he calls himself. How did the C4 blast a chimney and how did they get up it? If they couldn't contact each other, how was Cam able to call Sam then call Jackson? The scene in the chamber with the warriors, reminded me of the Imps in Doom. Why didn't SG1 have the mini Chapp'i power source earlier? Why didn't Cam's appearance in 1939 create a time paradox? Too many open ends and assumptions. Entertaining, anyway. Glad I bought it at discount. Lunatic1-1
