alxnorden-749-728545 I'm blown away by every element of this film....the music, the art direction, the subject matter...all of it captures you deeply and you come away with a real sense of understanding.The honest commentary from these artistes is exactly what the music industry needs more of - uninhibited, unapologetic stand points. But it's not just hot air and opinion that we're hearing - these guys have the determination and commitment to their art to see their visions through, regardless of whether it makes them popular or not. Highly recommend this film for it's refreshing and perceptive approach. Really makes you stop and think. Hauntingly beautiful too.

nphenriksen I saw Insurgentes on CPH:DOX International Film Festival in November 2009. It's a brilliant piece of work done by Lasse Hoile. Everyone who loves music, the ideas and thoughts behind it should do themselves a favor and see this documentary - NO... you must see this film! It really gives you something to think about. For many years, Hoile has been an acclaimed artist, photographer, graphic-artist, writer, film-maker/director, and cinematographer. With this documentary One can clearly see his talent. In Insurgentes is like seeing his photo-art put together one a string ... it is well made. Steve Wilson must be a very, very happy man.

MilosArizona I had the privilege of seeing Insurgentes at the CPH:DOX festival in Copenhagen to a sold out screening with Steven and Lasse doing a Q&A after the film (what a night).Expectations was high knowing what two great artist in their field of work was and it DID NOT disappoint! Even though you probably don't know who Steven Wilson is his views and reflection on the music and industry today is more than universal and is something all people who generally loves music should see when they get a chance and I couldn't agree more with Mr. Wilson.The film is a collage of beautiful and haunting images shot by Lasse but the style of the movie perfectly suits this way of floating editing, it reminded me of something Tarkovsky could have made, which was also mentioned in the festival program i give them right in that, it was very refreshing done and to watch. Very not typical of these kinds of music documentaries where you see the typical band doing typical things.I'm really looking forward to see it again and hoping they will release this interesting and important film on DVD soon.

Gustavo Torres I just saw Insurgentes and i must say that I'm amazed. This is not important to me only as a film lover, but as a Steven Wilson hardcore fan and also as a proud Mexican. So i can say that the film might not be liked by all the audience because it is targeted to a certain public, and those certain public is reduced even more to musicians, then Steven Wilson fans, then Mexican, British and Israeli people, besides that the concept of the film it's very heavy, loud, visual and at some points weird so it might be hard to swallow to some people.This might be a spoiler. So i recommend to read this after watching the film.The film is very subjective, every scene, every mood swing, every colour, every significant and intimate moment in the life of Steven Wilson it's going to be interpreted differently by each and everyone of us. Obviously, as i said before, the film it's specially for the fans, to the ones that could recognize "Trains, the Aviv Geffen's, Mikael Akerfeldt's and John Wesley's cameos, "Only child","No Twilight Within the Courts of the Sun", "Insurgentes", the locations in each of our countries, "Pain", "Halo" from Arriving somewhere, the autograph signing in Insurgentes at the Rock Shop (i was there), the scenes from Harmony Korine, the poem from the beginning of Port Rubicon.The only thing that left me unhappy (and the Apple company) was the persistence of killing iPods, it's not wrong considering that it's his movie, the way he sees life but kinda kills the general mood of the film.Concluding, this film it's art in every sense of the word, has great visuals, a great message, funny comments, reflexive thoughts, moving scenes and loving artful scenes. It's a must see whether you're a Steven Wilson fan or not.
