Evengyny Thanks for the memories!
Protraph Lack of good storyline.
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Edison Witt The first must-see film of the year.
Dark_Lord_Mark THis is a GOOD BAD MOVIE. This is the definition of it.It's so bad it's good. This movie was bad but with some charm in it.Yes it has bad acting, poor dialogue and a low budget. But turn your brain off and it is not un-watchable.It is quick moving, never boring and while clichéd and adds nothing new, the bad acting and poor acting makes it a fun watch. It's Asylum movie, but it is also entertaining and if you love cars, and like RIFFS, this movie is for you.I give it a 5 out of 10.
mikemdp Pros:-- Story's uninspired, but not so bad. Same goes for cinematography and direction.-- Lead actor playing "Johnny" is trying so hard to be Brad Pitt, it's almost charming. You'll find yourself saying, "Aww, look at the guy trying to be Brad Pitt…"-- I love this guy "Red," the auto junkyard owner who trains Johnny in racing. He's so authentically and simultaneously grizzled and whimsical, you'll think he's the child of an unholy union between Nick Nolte and Michael J. Pollard.-- The actor who plays rival racer "Mickey Stiles" is obviously coked up throughout the whole movie. No one's that good an actor. But it works. Keep this actor on coke. (BTW, IMDb says he's the freakin' voice of "Putt Putt" from my kids' video games!)Cons:-- The racing scenes are so obviously shot in fast motion you'll half expect Boots Randolph's "Yakety Sax" to be playing in the background.-- But you won't hear "Yakety Sax" because the same nondescript hip-hop song, which consists of nobody rappers yelling, "WHAT AROUND HERE!" over and over, underscores every race. As if it means something. But it doesn't.-- Daniel's father and sister are obviously somebody's relatives or friends. Actors this bad and ugly don't get cast without knowing a producer or somebody.-- Helicopter turn-by-turn in the last race comes out of nowhere with no explanation, while the view from helicopter shows no race at all, just some highway traffic. Who are they? Radio traffic reporters? Cops? And why do they talk like surfer dudes?-- Final, climactic racing scene comes and goes so quickly, you won't even realize it, because it consists almost entirely of close-ups of drivers yelling, "Come on! Come on!"-- Bad guy parole officer is so suitable a dou©ebag that you want him to really get it at the end. But when it finally happens, you won't stop laughing. Really, hours later, you won't stop laughing.Final verdict: I bought "Street Racer" for a buck from a Blockbuster that was going out of business, knowing full well that stocking movies like this helped put Blockbuster out of business. It was worth a buck and 90 minutes of my time. It will be on a blanket in my driveway at my next tag sale.
kungfukid9 Accidentally rented this movie being a car fanatic. And gawd this movie was soooooo horrible. I had to pry my eyes open with my fingers to try watch it.i mean how did he turn a beat up bugeye wrx into a 2006 hawk eye sti? and how could u possibly find parts in a junk yard, tune it and do massive body work on it within a week? Bloody ridiculous. He must have the hands of god. even chip foose from over haulin cant make a car that fast. The acting is so nursery school. They all looked as though they were constipated.so many car shows going on in the state of California and yet they cant even find better cars to show in the movie. Best car ever in there was the R33 skyline but it only appeared in the last scene and was not even raced in properly cuz they were so afraid to scratch it.
gmano-dark First off, this cover shows a Ford Mustang, and looks like a 350z. Neither cars seemed to be in there. It is very obvious this is a low production film. I'm not saying that low production films are bad though, however if the movies about flashy fast race cars, the producers gotta spend some money. The most expensive car in there would probably be between a Honda or Subaru. Acting was horrible, cars were cheap, the race scenes lacked what at least fast and the furious had. The whole showing the driver, then showing them press the clutch and shifting gears, yeah they screwed up on that. This is where my "spoiler" comes in.. at the last "race", there's this narration of the race which is ridiculous, it's suppose to be a police officer in a helicopter? i guess, but it just sounds like horrible teens that don't know what they're talking about. Races are about 30-45 seconds each, normally I would assume the circuit takes at least a minute per a lap. Everything just wasn't done right, just re-watch one of the fast and the furious movies instead of renting/buying this movie.
