ManiakJiggy This is How Movies Should Be Made
Bereamic Awesome Movie
Beystiman It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
Billie Morin This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
kvatter Words like hilarious, engaging, funny, light-hearted do not belong anywhere near this film. It is just plain awful and not that "it's so bad it's funny" kind of awful. Just dishwater dull awful. This seemed to be a project where a group of producers wrote down everything that would appeal to an 8 year old boy and hired a writer to incorporate all of them into one vapid story. Kids like Ninjas, check. They like video games, check. They like surfers, check. They like martial arts flicks, check. If you are 10 or under, maybe there's something here for you but I dare anyone approaching puberty or beyond to sit through this without reaching for the stop button. I squirmed as I watched Rob Schneider playing a young high school kid(yeah, a young 30 year old one)mugging and doing his best with an embarrassing role. Oh yeah and Leslie Neilsen. Very funny guy in a very unfunny role. Let us only hope that he collected a well-earned paycheck. No clever gags, no original ideas. You've seen all of this on bad TV movies many times over. Avoid.
dighambara The summary says it all. Surf Ninjas was the first movie to have a video game developed based on the movie, characters and plot....However, it is interesting that so many talents were brought together to create a 'fun' kids movie; Leslie Nielsen, Rob Schneider, Kelly Hu, Neal Israel, Tone Loc, Keone Young, plus Ernie Reyes Jr. & Sr., being a significant boost to the movie careers of both Rob Schneider and Kelly Hu. ._._._._
jbdahl1 Excellent summer day or break movie, and its not a bad film I was in the target age range when it came out. And it is still not that bad even today, it has some actual fighters in the film, Ernie Reyes Jr, was also in TMNT II and stunt doubled in TMNT I. The younger brother is awful, but Reyes Sr, Jr., and Schneider are good, and John Karlen who plays Mac does give an extra level of fun to feel-good movie. The plot is more imaginative then other children's ninja movies, this in turns adds to the fun of the movie. The color palette, score and mood are cheery, mystical and very exciting, any toddler to even young adolescent will enjoy this movie.
crowster What more can you say about this movie? it's got everything! Cheesy effects, parachute pants, a game gear that kicks peoples butts. This movie is obviously for kids, but if you want a good laugh then i suggest watching this film. I was also very surprised to see Rob Schnieder, he definitely made his mark when he did this movie...he has amazing human skills. I loved the parachute pants. I think i might have seen M.C Hammers name somewhere in the credits (stop! hammer time!) Anyways, this film had me in tears. The effects were brutal! I think they might have shot this whole film behind a blue screen, i'm not sure though....The best part of this movie was when the kid hopped into the jeep and ran over the army dudes. First off all the jeep was stick and i don't think a 10 year old can drive manual. Another thing that bothered me was that he was going so slow I don't know how the guys didn't see it coming. Like, he must have been only going 5 clicks..if that. Army dudes when are you going to learn? I also liked how he still had time to say a catchy phrase, get his surfboard posse in the jeep, and then drive away with out being hit by a single bullet. I think it might have had something to do with Rob Schnieder being on the back of the jeep. He probably used his sweet acting skills to block the bullets telepathically. Man, he's good! In conclusion I recommend this move for kids because it has all the right elements that I child would love to see in a film. Now, for the parents or anyone over the age of 18 I think you should really consider watching this movie as a slap stick comedy. Amazing job by the director and cheers to anyone who was a part in making this film. I look forward to seeing sequel.
