Synopsis

Donald is preparing a little picnic when he sees some ants passing by. He decides to tease one, ultimately by piling lots of food onto it. The ant eventually stumbles, but realizes Donald is sitting on a veritable gold mine. He rallies his fellow ants, and while Donald is napping, they cart him to a cliff and drop him into the river. When he returns to the raid in progress, he finds himself powerless to stop it. He dynamites the ant hill, but that only separates the ledge he's standing on, and he finds himself in the river again as the ants finish off a cupcake.

Reviews

StunnaKrypto Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.
Connianatu How wonderful it is to see this fine actress carry a film and carry it so beautifully.
Numerootno A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
ChampDavSlim The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.
OllieSuave-007 Another Donald bummer cartoon, where he gets plagued by misadventures bigtime when an army of ants invades his picnic. Great animation, but typical Donald Duck-gets-bad-luck story, which saw more annoying and food-greedy bug creatures. Grade D--
TheLittleSongbird As a Donald Duck fan, I love this cartoon and consider one it one of his better ones. The story is on the predictable side, but so much makes up for this. The animation is often crisp and very beautiful to watch, the ants are very cute and Donald is well drawn and antagonistic, getting his just desserts in the end. The music always been a joy in these cartoons and the music here is no exception, typically bouncy and energetic. Tea for Two Hundred works so well on the humour side of things, especially the ending with the dynamite which is priceless. Pinto Colvig and Clarence Nash as always provide effective vocal work. Overall, a lively and very funny cartoon, with a lot to enjoy. 9/10 Bethany Cox
Neil Doyle A better than usual DONALD DUCK short, TEA FOR TWO HUNDRED was nominated for a Best Short Subject Oscar back in '48, and it's full of clever plot ideas and good animation. An army of bees resides near Donald's picnic tent and are soon in evidence when he spots them marching along toward their hives. He decides to play a prank on them and the battle of the bees begins. They not only invade his picnic basket, but an army of them manage to carry him while he naps and toss him off a high ledge to the water below. He awakens, anxious to get his revenge.Clever and fast moving, the bees are ingenious and Donald only gets more and more vexation from having to deal with them. His final decision to use dynamite on one of the hives only backfires with him landing in the water again.Typical Donald cartoon makes clever use of images and Oliver Wallace's native music for the bees is an original touch.
Robert Reynolds This cartoon, nominated for an Oscar, is one of the better Donald Duck cartoons. Donald gets what he deserves and it's hilarious to boot. This cartoon is proof that drawing attention to yourself sometimes is a very bad idea. This shows on The Ink and Paint Club from time to time. Recommended.
