Merolliv I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

Together, they enlist in the Marine Corps and make it through basic training to go all the way. One day, years later, on a train bound to Paris, that bond would be tested to the ultimate limit when they are forced to thwart a homicidal madman intent on killing everyone.Earlier in the year, there was a big furore over the release of Black Panther, the first black big screen comic book hero movie with mass appeal. It received mostly rave reviews, but some of the negative ones lead to the inevitable cries of racism from some. But what was surprising (also to some!) was the virtual ignoring of this true life depiction of a real black hero (among two white others!) which just so happened to have the misfortune to be directed by a notoriously conservative Hollywood director. All that aside, though, most of the reviews weren't great, and sadly I can now see why, despite this being a story that desperately needed to be told. The event on the train is billed as the highlight of the movie, and certainly provides the main dramatic impetus for its existence. Unfortunately, it merely flecks up in piecemeal flashback scenes here and there, and finds itself drowned out in an overload of backstory. Clint Eastwood seems more interested in exploring what developed these men over the years, and it ends up detracting from the main explosive experience. But what makes it worse is the drama on display is somehow unengaging, and fails to draw you into these characters or make you care about them as people. It was a bizarre decision of Clint's to have the real life characters play themselves in the film, but their obvious lack of acting experience does shine through, making it even more uneven. The unusually short running time is another indicator of the strange lack of depth invested in this most potentially promising of tales. What it sadly is, most tellingly, is an example of the sad decline of a once great director, losing his touch in the winter years. One can only hope Eastwood finds his mojo again and returns to his former glory. **

He was after real-life hero tales continuously and this year he came with an even lesser known Thalys Train Attack. Surprisingly, Eastwood did a rare feat, he's cast the real men involved in the events the film depicts as themselves. So how did it go?Plot: In the early evening of August 21, 2015, the world watched in stunned silence as the media reported a thwarted terrorist attack on Thalys train #9364 bound for Paris--an attempt prevented by three courageous young Americans traveling through Europe. The film follows the course of the friends' lives, from the struggles of childhood through finding their footing in life, to the series of unlikely events leading up to the attack. Throughout the harrowing ordeal, their friendship never wavers, making it their greatest weapon and allowing them to save the lives of the more than 500 passengers on board.My Review:If you watch this film expecting thrilling hostage scenes in train and inspiring heroic acts, you will disappoint as hell. The 15:17 to Paris is one of the most aimlessly made biographical drama film. As far as films on terrorism go, there's not much action to be seen here. The entire train attack lasts hardly more than 15 minutes.This is no action film and not drama too.I think the script was written by the actors/real life people as it mostly focuses on uninteresting aspects of their life. Their travels, discussions and acts all looks like a Holiday videos. How did they even think that we are interested in watching their lives when almost nothing happens? May be! That is the point. MAy be Eastwood tried to prove that the most boring lives could also turn heroic but No..That didn't got conveyed to me while watching it.All three real life heroes did good even when this is their first time. Eastwood succeeded in bringing out performances from them. And that's the only place Eastwood succeeded. Even the train sequence is blandly shot.]My rating 5.25/10

allstarrunner Nothing about this movie really stands out except for the fact that it isn't outstanding in any way. The acting isn't terrible - but it certainly isn't good either. Having the real guys play themselves doesn't really bring much to the film. But to be honest, that wasn't what mad the movie sub-par; it was mainly the plot and the fact that they tried to make a full movie out of an event that takes place in maybe 2 minutes in real time. The movie really is about the the lives of the protagonists as they grow up, and quite frankly, it just isn't very interesting! They did an awesome thing at one point in their lives, but the rest of their lives are pretty ho-hum just like everyone else! Doesn't really make for a good movie!

laetitiapayombo Don't get me wrong I love a good Marvel hero! And I've got a great joy watching a good action movie. So I was ready to watch something good, something fun, something like a Django in a train... It wasn't it. So I understand that a lot of people feel cheated and disappointed. I don't. This a great movie. It reminds me of Elephant in a good way. We feel like we're with the boys. There's something real in this movie. It seems that Clint Eastwood is free to do whatever ever he wants and this freedom is inspiring. There's purity in this movie instead of the darkness that news, post apocalyptic movie and Tv show spread all over our mind. It's an author movie, like it or not it's great!
