Larry Harmon's cartoons weren't very good but at least they were only a few minutes long...here we get an hour and a half...The Boy's themselves rarely strayed over 70m...If we have to compare it to the greatest film team of all time the closest are the post 1940 films but they still are more enjoyable.The story is more Abbott & Costello than Laurel & Hardy. Gailard Sartain is actually good at being Ollie while Bronson Pinchot can't get the voice and overdoes the mannerisms and is given dialogue that frankly makes him seem retarded...Thankfully this was the only adventure made and resides in my DVD collection as I'm a completest.Watch the real things...Try Busy Bodies, Towed In A Hole, Way Out West, Sons Of The Desert...in fact just buy which ever box set of the Roach era films is available in your country.

This "film" is a travesty. No, wait--an abomination. NO, WAIT--this is without a doubt the absolute WORST film ever made featuring beloved characters created and established by other actors.I thought "Inspector Clouseau" with Alan Arkin (!) instead of Peter Sellers was ludicrous and sacrilegious, but even daring to "remake" Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy is asinine and money grubbing.Mr. Laurel and Mr. Hardy have been dead, respectively, since 1957 and 1965. Why anyone would even begin to imagine that suitable updates for L & H would be in the persona of Bronson Pinchot and Gailard Sartain is beyond me. I tuned in fully expecting to be horrified and embarrassed and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Everyone involved in this pathetic, moronic, disgrace should be blackballed from anything and everything associated with Hollywood and film-making. AVOID THIS MOVIE AT ALL COSTS--YOU HAVE BEEN DULY WARNED.

Brief summary: This movie demeans everyone it touches. That means you.First off, let me say I'm not a purist, and this might have been funny for a few minutes. The impersonations are not bad. But overall it's just dull and excruciatingly not funny. A few simple jokes are repeated over and over again.It's clear that this movies only exists to squeeze the last few dollars out of the now-trademarked Laurel and Hardy. The producers cannot have any real regard for their place in film history, or their talents. This is what offended me the most.Of course, my daughter liked it, so I'm also a failure as a parent ;)

Granted, they are not Laurel and Hardy, and are not as funny as they were, but Bronson Pinchot (Stan) and Gailard Sartain (Ollie) give above decent impersonations of the original duo. Not as good as the shorts or films, but it is a great tribute to best comedy team of all. Thumbs up.
