Synopsis

The American Dream is a 30 minute animated film that shows you how you've been scammed by the most basic elements of our government system. All of us Americans strive for the American Dream, and this film shows you why your dream is getting farther and farther away. Do you know how your money is created? Or how banking works? Why did housing prices skyrocket and then plunge? Do you really know what the Federal Reserve System is and how it affects you every single day? The American Dream takes an entertaining but hard hitting look at how the problems we have today are nothing new, and why leaders throughout our history have warned us and fought against the current type of financial system we have in America today. You will be challenged to investigate some very entrenched and powerful institutions in this nation, and hopefully encouraged to help get our nation back on track.

Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
Edwin The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "The American Dream" is an American animated half-hour documentary from 2010 written and directed by Tad Lumpkin and Harold Uhl, perhaps still the most known career effort from the duo. The title already gives slightly away that American history is a key component in here and this is true, but what it is much more about is American economy and money in America in general who gets it from whom if they want/need to and what impact it has in the grand scheme of things. "Scheme" is very fitting there. I think this was a good watch as it managed to elaborate on an actually complicated subject in a way that was really easy to understand. I think if you pick the edited version that is offered out there too that this can make for a good watch for teachers to show their students too, not the very little ones obviously. And one other thing: Completely away from the subject in-depth, I think the makers also used some really witty and entertaining references. For example the 300 spoof at the end would be one of these, but certainly not the only one. There are other pretty creative smaller references too on all kinds of occasions that let me hope Lumpkin and Uhl make a full feature animated film at some point too. But 30 minutes is accurate for this one here. The animation style is a bit simple, but I liked it too, especially the funny characters' looks. Eventually, the only reason why I don't give this one a higher rating is because I am not American and don't have the greatest interest in the subject. But for Americans, I would almost call it a must-see, especially if they love animation. For everybody else, it is a good watch too. Go check it out. It's very competently executed, also with the two very prolific voice actors in charge.
johnslegers Watch and learn, people. Watch and learn..."The American Dream" tells you in 30 minutes all you need to know about the current socio-economic system commonly known as "capitalism". It explains to you why it is really nothing but a scam used by those in power to enslave those not in power. In doing so, "The American Dream" sticks to historical facts and dares to criticize "those who shall now be criticized". That alone makes it one of the most interesting movies I've ever seen. The video can be watched legally on YouYube. Watch it, share it, spread the word.
steffanmax Only 30 min, these 30 could change every persons life on this planet.. But we are all stupid monkeys.. Wanna thank this movie to tell the truth, and if you don't watch it, you should not be considered a human, but the stupid monkey you really are..The movie goes in-dept about the money system, but really you don't need to understand, money, because it's just "money". I began to get really interested in the subject, because i study "economy", even my teacher know she teach in a subject their is a fraud.Yes It's ALL A Fraud. When I', finish with college, with my degree, i will never open a "economy" book again, and never borrow money.. it's the only 2 things i can do.. I hope you watch it, hate it or love it..Loved the movie, re-watched just after.
