mraculeated The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

Leofwine_draca THE BREAK-IN is an indie riff on PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, as are so many, and featuring the same kind of atmosphere of tension and disquiet. This time around the story is non-supernatural and concerns a young expecting couple who are disturbed by increasing reports of burglaries in their neighbourhood. Their story is captured via found footage in a low budget but fairly realistic way. The problem is that the events that do take place are few and far between and they're also quite familiar despite attempts at atmosphere building. The twist ending is the only thing of note in this one.

Cocodar I have to say, I really enjoyed this film. I tend to search out low-budget, little-known horror like this film, because I can really appreciate a solid story even if it has little to no frills. This film does a great job of building the suspense in a low key fashion throughout, a "slow burn" if you will, almost to the point of banality, but there is a little something that keeps you engaged with the story. And then, you get to end. What a surprise! I had almost the same reaction to this as I did the ending of the popular 80s slasher "Sleepawawy Camp". Though not as shocking and jarring as SaC, the ending to The Break-In still delivers that gut punch you'll never forget. This is something I'd be interested in purchasing for my home collection.

oceankalamo I was excited to see this movie after reading the plot. Once I saw this was taped with a cell phone (i.e. low budget style) that was a turn off but decided to give it a chance anyway. After the first 5 minutes into all of the rambling on chitter chatter about Bob and who the heck else they were talking about..I became so bored and drawn away from the film I almost forgot I put on "a movie". It reminded me of when your at a house gathering or art galley opening with many people that you do not know and everyone is talking in this monotone voice, eventually what all begins to sound like...blahh blah blah...blah blah ..blah blah. Have no idea if this cell phone captured something more interesting but these characters, voices and script was becoming annoying. More effort in the writing would have been more appreciated to start or maybe more editing to get things going.

mfeldman-00415 I thoroughly enjoyed this found footage indie film. I don't usually like found footage but this one kept my interest the entire time. Its a nice story about a man and woman getting ready to have a baby. Everything seems to be going well and then all hell breaks loose. All of the actors were spot on. It felt very real and all of the dialogue was interesting and not fake in the slightest. I really enjoyed the couple that played the friends. Very similar to our friends so made me relate even more to this story. I would say watch with friends and watch in the dark, because there are a couple times where I literally jumped out of my seat.
