This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place

It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

RELEASED IN 2005 and directed by Bruce Hunt, "The Cave" details events when a team of cave divers led by brothers Jack (Cole Hauser) and Tyler (Eddie Cibrian) are commissioned to explore a cave network in the Carpathian Mountains. Unfortunately an explosion cuts off their exit and traps them in the vast network. As if finding a way out isn't difficult enough, they also have to deal with strange vicious creatures living there. While "The Cave" isn't anywhere near as good "Alien" (1979) or "Aliens" (1986), it's competent enough (and should be with its whopping $30 million budget) and similar to those films, except taking place in the alien world of a cave network rather than a vessel in space or an alien planet. Speaking of the cave network, there are some awe-inspiring cave locations and sets.Except for the opening and close, the entire movie takes place in the caverns. The creatures are an effective meshing of the Xenomorph XX121 in the Alien franchise and the creeper from the Jeepers Creeper films.I didn't find the characters very engaging, but the story creates some decent suspense around the half hour mark. Although it isn't sustained, things perk up again in a thrilling sequence involving winsome Piper Perabo's character and her clash with a monster while climbing. This gripping episode is the main reason I grade the movie as high as I do. Lena Headey is the only other female in the cast.THE FILM RUNS 97 minutes and was shot in Romania (MediaPro Studios, Bucharest, as well as Zarnesti & Transylvania) and Mexico (Yucatan & Hidden Worlds Cenote Park, Quintana Roo). WRITERS: Michael Steinberg & Tegan West. ADDITIONAL CAST: Other members of the team are played by Morris Chestnut, Rick Ravanello, Daniel Dae Kim, Marcel Iures & Kieran Darcy-Smith.GRADE: B-

This is one weird combination of movie factors. The Cave features a stunning cast of high-profile actors like Lena Headey and Cole Hauser, yet manages to drag them through a rather narrow (no pun intended) script of a horror movie.I've read it in other reviews before and, after watching it, I have to agree: The Cave boasts some incredibly detailed and believable sceneries, but doesn't give the audience the time to take it all in. The cave system is huge and very intimidating, but the fast action cuts make it hard to feel the claustrophobia. The one thing that really bothered me is the daylight illumination of some scenes. A couple of flashlights simply cannot do this, as shown very well in The Descent. It wouldn't be so bad if they stayed with it throughout the movie, but one scene that seems like they're standing in daylight is suddenly darkened to an appropriate level the moment the camera perspective changes. It is still a very enjoyable movie, if only to see the later Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones and Johns from Pitch Black fight for their lives in skintight diving suits.

Called in for a rescue mission, an experienced cave-diving crew in Romania learns their quarry stumbled into the home of subterranean creatures and are now tracking them down, forcing them to try to get out alive. This one turned out to be quite a decent enough effort. One of the better elements here is the fact that this one manages to wonderfully utilize the underground setting from maximum effect, getting a lot out of this one. The most obvious one is the rather creepy lay-out as the cave system looks incredibly well-done, being disorienting and unnatural-appearing as there's all kinds of nooks, crannies, crevices, openings and tunnels to really be as claustrophobic as it can possible by while serving as a wholly effective battleground for the different encounters within. These are quit fun here in theory, as the first battle in the scorpion-den, a frightening encounter in the open air above the inland pool and finally the massively fun encounter in their lair that really lets the creatures loose in a great environment to showcase their skills, but after that there's not a whole lot really right here. The biggest problems is the creatures themselves, as there's a couple issues with them as the darkened surroundings make it impossible to really get a good look at them being the biggest. There's only a small handful of scenes that actually give it away here, the rest of which are shaken up too much with lousy rapid-fire editing that blurs everything into an indecipherable mess. While the rating might have a lot to do with the lame body count, there's a lot here to deal with the large majority of time spent in detailing the mechanics of how to survive in the situations rather than getting the creatures out. It's not until the final half hour that the attacks begin in earnest so this one can struggle to get going at first. These do hold it down somewhat but the good points are still good enough here.Rated PG-13: Violence and mild Language.

I think this movie is better than most people are saying it is and i don't see what's so bad about it.I thought the acting was fine and i Liked most of the characters in it.Lena Heady Gave a good performance and Her Character Was Likeable.I thought the Film Was Very entertaining and It Had some good mystery and a lot of Action toward the end. I guess i just like movies like this, i thought it was interesting, sure its not perfect but what film is?. This film was very good for what it was and it deserves a little more recognition in my opinion. If a film is able to entertain me then to me that film is Good. This is also a good looking film, the scenery looks nice and the cave looks beautiful and i thought the under water scenes were very beautiful fascinating and well shot.I thought the film had a good pace to it and it was a little creepy in some places and i thought the creatures looked good and the effects were good. I thought this movie had good action scenes and cool fights with the creatures and there was a very tense scene toward the end of the movie when a women fights a creature with a flame thrower! up on a Cliff! and i thought that was one of the coolest scenes in the movie!.All people ever seem to complain about is the characters in this movie but i saw Nothing wrong with them, sure they were not great characters but so what?.i was more interested in all the Action and the bloody killings with all the creatures, i was so involved in all of the Action that i barely even noticed how the people were acting. I thought this was quite an exciting film and when the group of people got trapped down in the cave i thought it was interesting to watch and see how they would escape. The fact that this film kept me watching and nothing in it annoyed me shows me that this film is good and it deserves a bit more credit and so do the actors in the film because i thought they all did well and some scenes in the cave were a bit creepy especially the parts in the dark when creatures jumped out at them.I guess I just Liked the Story I found it an interesting One.the so Called "bad ending" that everyone complains about i actually Liked,i thought it was interesting and mysterious.people say its a sequel bait ending which is true but that doesn't make it a bad thing, there are lots of films that do that and its not that big of a deal. This film was dark and mysterious, and the location was great i liked that it was based around Romania and the caves,it gave the film a cool style and i thought it was good the way they ended the film because it keeps you guessing as to what will happen next and that to me is not a bad twist. All in all this is not a bad movie and it deserves a 9/10 for the effort. And i loved the song they played at the end of the movie Nightwish Nemo i thought that song matched the movie perfectly,it was a great choice and the movie was Very Good.
