Please don't spend money on this.

It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

First when I saw it in the movie store I was like "Wow, a new Alien vs. (something random) movie, just have to see it". Then when I started it up and saw the really f***ed up filming I almost went to get my binoculars just so I could turn them around and be a bit further away from the screen. It's like the director wanted to catch every single drop of sweat that the actors left behind. To give you guys a slight idea on how close it was, it's the type of close you only let your girl get too. That combined with awful acting, not one can say they did good on this movie, not really easy though when the camera is pushed right up in your face. Still no excuse.I couldn't stand to watch more than 15 minutes, so if you don't want to waste as much time as I did, just don't watch it. If you do want to watch more than I did, embrace yourself, your eyes will start begging for mercy pretty quick.

The story/plot is simple: Mercs and scientist are trapped inside of an underground facility while surrounded by aliens and zombie-like creatures while trying to reach the surface before it's too late. Although this formula has been done to death, this movie really stands out when it comes to the all-out action scenes. After watching movies like Starship Troopers 3, Screamers 2, DOOM (which I can't help but praise), Star Runners, The Rig, etc, I must say that this one was the most entertaining by a long shot. This is a good example of how good editing can save a bad film. The action sequences are very well done for what they had to work with and the atmosphere that the director created was very intense which added a sense of impending doom.Of course, there are a few problems with this movie but I'm sure any hardcore sci-fi fan can overlook them. In all honesty, the movie had more good than bad. Mainly, there are a few actors that I couldn't help but cringe whenever they uttered their lines. Thankfully, the action sequences and fancy editing made up for them.I watched this movie with the contrast pretty high which made the look of the film pretty good and full of atmosphere. I usually don't review movies, but after seeing the low score that this one received I couldn't help but give my p.o.v.If you're in the mood to turn off your brain and watch mercs blow creatures to kingdom come, then this movie is worth a look.6/10 but +1 point for a good effort and re-watch value.7/10

First of all, my rating is based on low budget movie-making, there is better out there, but this does quite a good job.The story is interesting, yes it does rip off other ideas, it also emulates those other ideas quite well, considering the budget! Sets and lighting are good (maybe a bit dark in a lot of places, but it is a dark sci-fi, the title of the film should hint at that, which it does!).Acting is variable, some good moments, and naturally some bad moments, some characters are a bit odd, and their acting is consistently annoying (bad script for those characters or storyline?).The effects are good for a low budget, plenty of sci-fi gore. Sound design is good, but not consistent, that is my major gripe with this film.Overall, all i can say, is i enjoyed it, it might not be for general media consumption, but if you have any interest in making films, or even curious as to how films are put together, then this is a good benchmark to view. It far exceeds many other low budget films, but yet does not set a new standard.A lot of the acting is contrived (fair to say, probably related to direction or script), but the older female scientist did a wonderful job, i have to say, very believable.I will be interested in seeing future productions!

I wish I could say something positive about this flick but unfortunately it's not the case. I wish I could agree with someone's post who stated the performance of the actors and the story compensate for the cheesy "special defects", but once again, I can't. This is the kind of movie you can watch in 15 minutes. References do "Alien" and "resident evil" are almost everywhere. Unfortunately they ( the filmmakers ) could not deliver it, and references are lost. It could work for a "trash" or "D" movie. However it does not have any humor ( which could save this movie, but, once again, it is not there ). It is basically a whole lot of what we have already seen. I am truly disappointed, I had better expectations towards this. Well, at least they tried. Let us all hope some lessons are taken from it and that future productions could be done in a bit more careful way. There was someone posting we "should pay attention " for a series or sequel. This is not going to happen. This is one of the worst movies I have seen this year. My advice: do not watch it, don't waste you money and time.
