UnowPriceless hyped garbage
Inadvands Boring, over-political, tech fuzed mess
Organnall Too much about the plot just didn't add up, the writing was bad, some of the scenes were cringey and awkward,
Francene Odetta It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
Adam Foidart "The Devil's Carnival" is very much a Darren Lynn Bousman's pet project. It's unmistakable for anything else and that means if you liked his previous work in "Repo! The Genetic Opera" you'll be familiar with the style of horror and rock opera presented in this short film, so you'll enjoy it a lot. The plot? Well I can't say I can really recall it very well and some of It is because it's confusing at times. I remember a lot of cool visuals, some similarities with Aesop's fables, demons, knife-throwing, Bill Moseley in makeup and Alexa Vega looking pretty sexy. In all honesty it's not my fault, this is a picture that you kind of need to watch more than once. While the songs aren't as polished as the ones in his previous work, the sets and costumes are impressive and for a low budget production, it looks great. I found the story to be scrambled though, which frustrated me because I love the idea of this demonic carnival (and I've always wanted to see it done well since I saw "We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story). The upside is that if you like it, the picture is short so you'll be able to watch it multiple times to clarify the confusing bits. Similarly, it's a lot of style over substance and if at first you don't really care for it, it's just not your thing. It's a love it, or hate it kind of thing and I bet the way to really appreciate It would be to view it with someone who's already fallen In love with it and can clarify some of the plot elements or give you factoids on all of those cool little details. I enjoyed it enough that I think you should check it out, if only to see If It will be your kind of thing. (On DVD, November 15, 2012)
m-hale-692-620501 Let me start off by saying that I love musicals and that i really love horror movies. This had a higher rating than most of the other horror movies on Netflix, and today is my day off, so i figured, why not. This movie is visually stunning. It set a dark mood for the entire film, and the make up and costuming was phenomenal. The acting was good, from most of the cast. and the music was catchy. They picked people that had good voices and good acting skills. and the story is an interesting, and original one. So why the average rating? Mostly because I couldn't give a sh*t less about any of the characters. There was little to no back story behind any of the "lost souls" and nothing was really explained. This movie could have been 100 times better, and received almost a perfect score from me, if we had gotten a little more back story, and the movie had been longer. Although I do want to note that the shortness of the movie is only a problem because the characters are so underdeveloped. it's not a bad movie, but that's only because the cast, the music, and the set somewhat save it. needless to say, i don't see myself watching this one again.my other problem with this movie is that the ABUSE VICTIM was blamed for her abuse. an abusive boyfriend is not her fault, so why is she in hell? and why does the klepto get whipped? that makes really, no sense to me. all in all, this gets a 4/10 from me.
atinder I not fan of Musical horror, i just about like The Nightmare before Xmas, it was one of the only musical movies that I liked. i Liked the open scenes of this movie, 3 different people, who are being asked to open the door. Then soon end up in very strange place and get even stranger, when this weird stranger people start to dance and sing in the movie. There might be some catching tunes in this movie, that may stay in back head for few days after seeing this movie and I didn't like some songs at all, found very dull, there some decent singer in this movie, so it not too forced I did seem to drift away from time to time while watching this movie as never kept hooked as the little plot this movie had moved very slowly. The acting was really good this movie, which I Did not expect, it was fun watch that for sure and it dose go on for too long to repeat same thing for short run time I give 5 out of 10
brittanlow I first saw this film as part of the first Road Tour and I have to say I was infinitely impressed. Besides the fantastically brilliant soundtrack, the incomparably talented cast, the spectacular plot line and the unmatchable talent of Zdunich and Bousman as a pair, the project is a feat in itself. When you consider that the film was shot in a week, in the cold dessert, on a $100,000 budget, and then edited and released within 3 months for viewing, it's awe inspiring. To be able to create what has been created here is the sort of thing that makes all dreams seem possible with work. Darren Lynn Bousman, Terrance Zdunich, and the cast and crew involved have all put part of themselves into this project, and when you see it, you can feel it for yourself.
