Dorathen Better Late Then Never
ShangLuda Admirable film.
Ketrivie It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
Mischa Redfern I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
dean t Yes, Kat is absolutely compelling, But this film is more-it is comedy the works. From start to finish. It is just plain funny with some great inside jokes that any fan or would be actor would appreciate. Even the ending managed to be funny, compelling and poignant-at the same time. Something Saturday Night Live dreams of achieving but never quite does.Scott Wright did a wonderful job on what was obviously a small budget. And Pablo Schreiber (brother of Leiv) puts together an hysterical character by channeling a cross between Matthew McConaughey and Russell Crowe.Author author!
tigerfish50 Paul and Katie are an actor/screenwriter and actress couple who live in the Hollywood Hills while they try to catch a break in the movie business. When a predatory actor/producer offers Katie the lead role in his sado-masochistic sex film, she immediately starts agonizing about the project's dubious sexual content and the douche-bag's lecherous behavior. Needless to say, Paul feels threatened, but he responds by flirting with other women and increasing his weed-smoking.The two lead actors appear to possess some talent, but repeatedly over-act as they fight a losing battle with their own wooden writing and direction. The minor characters are mere caricatures, although Rosemarie Dewitt shines briefly as a pretentious acting coach in a cameo which requires minimal dialog. The arc of the story hovers obstinately around the lowest common denominator, until it plummets down into the basement for the farcical conclusion. Like countless other US sex comedies, the film treats its main issues - sex and jealousy - with exceptional coyness. Since it lacks both laughs and dramatic content, a more appropriate title would be: 'The Melodramatics: A Bore'.
zif ofoz Sorry but this flick never gets off the ground. The main couple, Katie & Paul are not believable as a couple and Katie's willful innocents around the creepy Pablo movie director is just boring and simple minded. Plus Paul, the writer/stoner, is equally boring. As I write this review I'm wondering what about this movie kept me watching it. The story is tissue paper thin and so transparent you can see whats coming next. There is no believable maturing to Katie & Paul even after all the self doubt each experiences. The boat scene was interesting and well done - maybe that's it - I kept waiting for an equally well done scene --- don't hold your breath.
vanapa9 These 2 knuckleheads - Kat and Scott -Foster & Rodgers, are a talented delightful duo...a pleasing pair...professional and prodigious, producing, performing -directing, writing and going for coffee for the crew etc etc.OK- the cast is a cast on a budget..but their performances are very right on/believable. ALL the characters are well portrayed and as we watch they take us with them. Where do we go ? Well..this story may be an excerpt from Kat&Scott's struggling efforts to keep a relationship together while trying to earn a living. This is something we can all relate to. OR..this story may be Kat&Scott's friends account- 2 struggling artists- an actress and writer who get so lost in "making it" that they lose each other. At any rate-we watch and HOPE that they don't lose each other-and If they do-they BETTER find each other again..at least before the curtain closes. After all-what's more important-Making it ? Or..hanging onto your LOVE..your happiness..your TRUE happiness ?? I for one opt for a different ending and open the door for the sequel. By the way..I love it when cute dogs are also in the movie..it makes the characters more endearing and Real!
