Reviews

SeeQuant Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
Orla Zuniga It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review
Clarissa Mora The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
Haven Kaycee It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
capodesperado I made an imdb account just for this. The first few negative reviews were just silly. To preface I'm a man, since it seems we already hijacked the review board.I was confused in the beginning as to whether this was a documentary or a rom com, but quickly realized it was the latter. The narrator makes a lot of interesting claims that deserve further discussion. A number of different male/female pairs were presented, and somewhat as caricatures of stereotypes, sure. The actors were believable and although I said they were a bit stereotypical, still relate-able and reasonable. The "don't straighten my hair" dude was a bit annoying and imbalanced.I don't know where people are upset about man hating or painting them as misogynistic. From the perspective of the narrator that's the point, and it never got past the shallow end. See how the movies concludes before judging... I found the narrator to be an equal offender and spent most of the time laughing with my girlfriend. It did what it could to deal with a loaded topic and 1.5 hours. I wouldn't say it's particularly deep or that i'll remember it a year from now, but we had a great time and were left with a feeling of warmth as well as even, acceptance? If you swing too far to either side of the spectrum you might not find much here. But good times for the rest of us. I feel like this book and movie was an attempt to bring back a little sanity to the discussion.
DroogEditor Went into this with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The characters came to life and were believable and sympathetic. In the era of Riefenstahlesque superhero movies that is a welcome alternative... Thanks.
Jack Daniel So, I am finishing watching the movie right now and noticed that it is listed as comedy but all it tries to do is justifying women's behaviors by using NOT SCIENTIFIC data. There is a female narrator all the time and she keeps pointing out that "we used to think ABC about women's brains but since I read a study on a blog, now we, the entire human kind, think differently". Which is obviously not comedy, but a feminist rant that has no correlation to reality and scientific data, since scientific axioms depend on data being collected through several years, by several different studies, most of the time thousands of them (Example: Einstein's relativity took more than a 100 years to get fully checked and we are still trying to figure and validate some of its aspects), and when they CONVERGE, the scientific community declares it is true to science. Which is NOT the case for any of the affirmations on "women's brains" made on the movie, like the one that says "now 'we know' that women and men have the same amount of brain cells" (obviously a lie because as I said one study alone means nothing to science, as well as only a dozen of them and cerebellum is different from brain, they are two different organs). One could argue "but it's a comedy". Well, as I said, it doesn't look like comedy because in comedy you don't try that hard to justify your opinions. Which makes the movie look so lame that you can't actually laugh at all. Also, the main female character looks superficial (futile sub-intelectual type). The male characters look artificially dumb and misogynistic on purpose but not in a funny way.
crgtadxi This is a good movie. It might seem a bit simple in the beginning, but it is logical, analytical, educational, and medium entertaining, but it winds up everything that happens in a touching and beautiful conclusion/ending. Watch it all to the end.. Btw, I am a man.
