Synopsis

Steffen Vogt, aged around 25, is helping out at a German archeological excavation in Israel when he finds a 2,000-year-old skeleton holding the instructions for a video camera dating from the year 2003. The bones also show traces of the present day. His theory of a time-traveler who made a video of Jesus is laughed at by everyone, however, including Sharon, an attractive Israeli woman he adores. Although no one appears to believe him, his find certainly seems to have generated interest: Steffen is attacked shortly afterwards in his hotel room by strange men; then he discovers that the German embassy and the secret service are after him; and when his friend Dan is murdered, he goes into hiding.

EssenceStory Well Deserved Praise
Steineded How sad is this?
Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Kayden This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
rslaw65 It was a better movie than the EXPERT considers it to be, I did not move from my seat until it ended, sometimes experts want us to see things the way they see them, yet, we are not that spoiled. The settings were great, the quality of the movie was ideal, the chase scenes were entertaining, wardrobe, extras, the buildings, the wall of lamentations, I like the whole thing! The leading lady was fine and very beautiful too.How would the expert have liked it to be so that his review could have improved?I don't agree with the critic, he was very biased.Rafael
Antoine J. Bachmann Having read some comments explaining how the film did not do justice to the book, I bought and read the book. It was a tough task because this is one of the most poorly written books I have read in a long time (not the translator's fault - I read it in German). As for the ideas, the cliches abound and nothing is believable. So even though the film is full of unbelievable moments, and of cliches, believe it or not but it is a marked improvement on the book!Make sure you don't buy the book, or waste time reading it.Yes it was a best-seller in Germany but I guess this only proves that today's masses are ignorant and unsophisticated enough, that they can be made to love such a thing... ;-)
michael_kleinhenz What an awful book adaption! Can please anyone tell me why they have changed the wonderful book plot this way? The original author of the novel, Andreas Eschbach, carefully avoided any logic errors, like the time paradoxon problem or the fact that the main character does not recognize his own handwriting. All this was destroyed thru the radically changed new ending. Also, some of the nice details of the book were initially mentioned in the movie, but not used to the extent: the monk says that "they can take a look at the mirror every hundred years", but when the camera is examined, it has no power whatsoever.Sorry, but this movie is a dull example of what filmmakers can do to a really great book!
el-mich Oh my goodness!!! What a mess!!! Here goes together what belongs together... ;-)REALLY BAD actors together with a REALLY BAD story go together with even worse dialogues and acting and worst of all: One of the most miserable adaptions of a brilliant novel for film!"Pro7", the German tv sender and producer of the movie, had told its audience that this would be the "event-movie" of the year... Ha, ha, ha! Oh well, and the earth is still flat, doesn't move and is at the centre of the whole universe...! ;-)))This sure as hell was the worst film i saw this year - and i saw lots of them! At least up to the moment... But this year won't last very much longer so chances are that it will remain the worst. To make things even more worse: Besides the title and the name of two characters the film has more or less nothing to do or in common with the underlying absolutely brilliant novel by Mr. Eschenbach. Several friends of mine who had read the book (me personally i hadn't had the opportunity up to the moment) unanimously stated this and even if it had, the film was still absolutely horrible, with bad dialogues, an illogic story and absolutely no development of suspense.Perhaps this film should be shown to producers, actors and directors - as an extremely good example how a movie should definitely NOT be done!!!What a waste of time, money and all other resources! If Pro7, the German TV sender, had only stuck to its original and real capabilities: They are one of Germany's most successful commercial TV-senders but NOTHING more. And... they do a horrible job in film production!Do Yourself a favour and yell for help and try to run away if someone wants You to watch this this so-called "event-movie"!
