Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
Helloturia I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Anoushka Slater While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
sharpshtik The propaganda, the plot, the script, the characters, the casting and the acting are awful. This movie is a sloppy mess from top to bottom. Expect left wing propaganda where Muslims are portrayed as peaceful victims and Christians are portrayed as killers. Out of intense, mutual hatred, each side did horrible things in civil wars in the former Yugoslavia, but since socialists, communists and Muslims have been united for at least a century now the left wing media generates lopsided stories based on lopsided reporting. Jesse Eisenberg is one of the worst and most annoying looking and sounding actors in existence, yet he keeps getting cast in movie after movie. The characters are unrealistic, which is consistent with the entire story. The movie comes across as a half-hearted attempt that rushes though a story with one shallow segment after another.
ebiros2 Three journalists embark on a mission to get an interview with one of the most wanted war criminal in Bosnia. In the process, they risk everything including their lives. In the beginning of this movie, there's a caption that comes on saying "Only the most ridiculous part of this story is true". On the surface this movie looks like it's about journalists going after their story, but it's a movie that makes you think about the true intent of the writer and the producer. Towards the end Duck makes a comment "People in power of this country doesn't want to find him.". This might sum up the entire scenario of this movie. It points to the fact that people in power really don't want to find these war criminals. They have their usefulness, and are not considered true enemy of the state, or at least low in priority. On the other hand, there seem to be other category of people who the government consider the true enemy of the state. These might be people who have the technical prowess to steal sensitive information from the government. Example maybe a guy who was caught in Africa using an anonymous cell phone. He was well in hiding, but the US government was able to capture him without much difficulty. It shows that there is technology, and man power if the government wishes to exercise their will. So this story is putting a big question mark on the "will" of the government despite their propaganda saying otherwise. Who's right ? It seems to be saying "You be the judge.".It's a nice movie with real intent behind it. Story and acting is also top notch. The movie will make your time worthwhile watching.
kiramorena I gave this movie 1/10, even though it's not that bad at all, and I know it. First of all, I want you to know something, before you think I'm just being unreal. I was too young to be emotionally involved with this war, while it lasted. Second, my grandmother was Croatian, my grandfather was Slovak and my father's parents are Serbian/Slovak, so I consider myself an 'ethnical chaos' and thus have no nationalistic views. That war was just wrong, and innocent men, women and children (on BOTH sides) died for someone's 'higher interests'. There is no truth. There ARE many, covered with blood, and they all deserve to be heard. Instead, I'm watching the same ol' scenario over the years - the 'all American' scenario. So, here comes the brave and daring Richard Gere, with the famous American justice seeking thirst (ha!) in his guts and Chuck Norris as his idol. He is on his way to get his revenge (and, just for the sake of it, his career back) over a war criminal responsible for massacre over an entire Muslim village (and not just one), and Gere's sweetheart who was (oh, boy, was this unexpected...) pregnant with his child. Even if this movie brings up a good point, it is well known a long time ago. Even if it was made for good causes, they are pushed aside by the anger that every Balkan inhabitant feels when he sees a trailer about an upcoming blockbuster with the one and only (american) peacemakers. I am so sick of it! And I'm sure many decent Americans are sick of it as well!Of course, no one forced me to watch it, my bad... I can promise you one - it won't happen again.
lastliberal It's the 5th anniversary of the end of the Bosnian conflict, and two buddies are reunited. One on the way down after an on-air crackup (Richard Gere), and one rising (Terrance Howard.Simon (Gere) has a line on a war criminal in hiding (Ljubomir Kerekes). He convinces Duck (Howard) and a young journalist (Jesse Eisenberg) to join him on the hunt. The reason for the hunt is made clear later. It is gut-wrenching.It's a good buddy movie - funny, exciting at times, terribly sad at others, and Gere & Howard play off each other brilliantly.Brilliant ending - too bad we can't catch the criminals and do it for real.
