Laikals The greatest movie ever made..!
PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Hadrina The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Phillipa Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
Uriah43 Somewhere in the Pacific Ocean a small group of white supremacists (possibly former Nazis) have set up a slave operation which utilizes native women to work on the plantation and provide sexual services when it pleases them. They also use native men to help guard the female workers as well. Life is good for the white slave owners. However, trouble begins when one of the white guards named "Hartman" (Udo Kier) falls in love with a native girl by the name of "Cora" (Janet Lopez) and subsequently attempts to help her escape. From then on the film pretty much includes one scene after another in which the white guards beat and humiliate the native women whenever they feel like it. Yet, even though this is a standard theme in all "Women-in-Prison" (WIP) movies the producers failed to incorporate a serious plot which could have improved this film immensely. As a matter of fact, about the only two good things going for this movie was the beautiful tropical island scenery and the presence of the aforementioned Janet Lopez who was certainly easy on the eyes. Other than that this movie was almost a complete waste of time. As such I have rated it accordingly. Below average.
gridoon "Island of the Bloody Plantation" is set on a small, unnamed island (probably somewhere in the Philippines), where a Nazi-like dictator runs a prison-like plantation: the local girls work all day as slaves, supervised (and often sexually attacked) by a few (fairly inept) white guards, some local guys and a couple of midgets (!). One of the guards, played by Udo Kier, falls in love with one of the girls and decides to help all of them escape from the island.I was rather surprised to find this movie on DVD. Presented in a startlingly clear print, it looks beautifully shot, with an often stunning cinematography. This beauty clashes, however, with the dubbing and the low-grade material. The story is simple and unexciting, and frequently ceases to make sense! An example: at one point, one of the girls helps Kier and his girlfriend with the use of some magical powers. Why couldn't she have used them earlier? Why doesn't she use them again? At the end (SPOILERS FOLLOW) the girls escape in what must be one of the easiest escapes ever in the history of WIP movies. Udo Kier takes the film seriously and tries to act, but he is hampered (in the Eglish-language print) by being dubbed with a rather girlish voice. (**)
CupidGrl I tracked this movie down, because I'm a total Udo Kier fan. I really don't see how anyone could like this movie other than if they are looking at him, though. The plot is - Well... there is not actually a real plot, but anyway... There is this Island, and there are women slaves on it. They are forced to do all the work, have sex with the Island owners, they get beat, tortured, etc... Well Udo plays Hartman, who is in love with one of the slaves. He's kind of the hero of the movie. Well finally, the girl slaves get tired of it, and they all develop a plan (w/Udo) to escape and kill the owners. I wont tell you what happens, cuz I don't wanna spoil it! :)Udo is dubbed in this one. Actually... the dubbing is horrible. But he's still pretty to look at. I give it a 5/10
Stefan Kahrs Typical early 80s WIP (women in prison) film, pretty awful as one might expect, but even if we apply the low standards of the genre it remains awful. It even fails on the level of sleaziness and depravity, as the performances are generally lackluster and the pace is pedestrian. It may be coincidence, but I could not help noticing that some of the main people responsible for this are gay men; it is a clear sign that they have (unsurprisingly) no feel for this kind of genre.
