amandaconverse1 There are not a ton of movies that our family enjoys together but this is one. It is interesting and funny enough for adults to enjoy. My son loves just because it's Ninjago and both my daughters liked it as well; one of who isn't a ninja or Lego fan but she enjoyed.

gladrialawson This was a hilarious installment of the LEGO franchise. A very simple plot but it's completely forgiven as it is filled with so many clever and hilarious gags all throughout. I laughed all the way through.

markojulio I actually really liked this movie. The story's almost complete focus on Lloyd and his father was sad and heartwarming. I really felt sympathy for Lloyd. He was just a kid wanting to do right, but he was screwing up. Like in the scene where he's watching his friends getting destroyed by the cat and he's shouting and tearing up because he knows it's all his fault. That got me. Lord Garmadon was really funny and fun to watch. The themes of parents and father/son bond were nicely done. I do have faults, though. The rest of the characters were really pushed aside to make way for the Lloyd story. They had little to no development. The first half was really cheesy, basically formulaic. I figured they would be smart about it and point out the tropes and cliches but they never did. They just followed the formula. The animation, although beautiful and I still very much like it, doesn't feel entirely LEGO. The characters move more like animated characters and not legos, if you catch my drift. They're not as blocky and stop motion-like as seen in The LEGO Movie. This film definitely didn't need to be done in LEGO, it could've worked fine without that style. Which makes it less unique but not bad overall.In the end, I'm glad I saw the movie as someone who grew up watching the show. Speaking of the show, i don't mind that they took the movie in a different direction from the show. As Jackie Chan said in the beginning of the movie, this is the legend behind the legend of Ninjago. This is a new story from the one we already know from the show. "To truly see it, you must see it in a different perspective." I took this as the film telling us that we need to accept this movie as a new story different from the show.

nathanwho This film is not very good. It is a tedious watch and a real shame considering the clear hard work and effort that went into making it.The overall message is lame and executed in a cringey way. There are only two developed characters in this movie - Lloyd and Garmadon - and neither of them are likeable. Lloyd spends the whole movie moping around and being unpleasant, even though we are supposed to feel sorry for him. Garmadon is quite a good character, although he makes too many "jokes" and is just annoying.The other ninjas are severely undeveloped and hold no real purpose to the movie. Done well, this movie could have really given these characters justice.I'm a big fan of LEGO but not a big fan of Ninjago, especially after seeing this movie. The first LEGO movie was a masterpiece and the LEGO Batman Movie is a similar let-down to this. I hope these movies improve with their upcoming LEGO movie sequel and others.I did enjoy the LEGO aspect of this film and it was fun to see the creativity of the different mechs and buildings. Although, about 99% of the scenery, water and greenery and smoke etc. is just cgi-ed in mountains and forests from real life, which really makes the LEGO aspect seem not as good. This was a problem I had with LEGO Batman Movie, and it was something the LEGO movie didn't have at all - which is what made it good.The cat invading the city is stupid and detaches the audience from the LEGO feel. The kid and Jackie Chan at the start and end of the film are also stupid and annoying. They obviously wanted to recreate what they did with the LEGO movie and failed.Kids will enjoy this. But I don't recommend.4/10
