Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Cissy Évelyne It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
RoboRabbit89 Wesley obviously did this for the money, I know he previously had trouble on the production of "Blade Trinity," so I think he needed something small to be a character builder. This film was it, it has a pretty standard straightforward story one that is familiar, although Wesley is the only reason to watch. It's been a while since I've seen this back in 2011, Wesley is a good actor so don't blame him, I would blame the writer for this under-cooked script. The action scenes are OK at best, but if I remember correctly, the movie was underwhelming as a whole. Still It was at least watchable to some ex-stint, Wesley is by far the best actor in the film. The villains are forgettable, same for the story and the movie it's self.Overall an underwhelming film that should have been better, but then again I don't think Wesley was looking for anything great, just somewhat decent after wrapping on "Blade Trinity". I give it a 3/10. I could watch it again I think? But I think if you want to see this, keep your expectations very low. It's a forgettable film you can watch on a rainy day, maybe with friends.
Leofwine_draca I watched this film of an evening and had forgotten about it the next morning. Cookie cutter is the phrase I'm looking for, because this straight-to-video nonsense is predictable in every way and holds no character of its own. Now, I'm not too worried about the lacklustre story - action films don't NEED great stories, plenty do without - but the attempted flashy direction is really at fault here. Marcus Adams handled the dull demonic horror outing LONG TIME DEAD but he's certainly not cut out for the action genre.Wesley Snipes is the star - Seagal or Van Damme could equally have played the part - and nobody bothers giving him a character, so he just wanders around and shoots bad guys in various badly-directed and poorly-edited clips. There's the usual round of betrayal and heroism, but the whole cast is extraneous, the villains caricatures and originality nowhere to be found. It's neither exciting nor thrilling, and the presence of William Hope (ALIENS) only serves to remind the viewer of what a decent action film should look like.
Eucriel I only watched it to the end because it was a rental - had we gone to see this at the cinema I'd have asked for our money back. Some glaring problems here - the sound recording was sub-standard, so you couldn't hear the lines properly. The dialogue was clumsily delivered - almost stumbled through - something any half-decent director should have spotted right away.I think they could have made the film passable had they sorted the sound & dialogue, and took the time to focus the action. The whole thing felt hurried and low-budget.Disappointing FX for an action movie - either stock footage, cheap sparks/fireworks or studio overlays. I've only seen it one time through (That's quite enough), but it's probably been shot with only 4 or 5 locations, with stock for the rest. One redeeming feature was the lighting. For obviously hurried shots, digicams and cheap locations, the lighting crew did a good job and brought some of the only atmosphere to the film. Some credit has to go to camera there, but the scenes seemed so half-thought-through it must have been difficult to bring imagination to the movement - Photography is routine and adequate. The last word on technique and the second redeemer is editing. Whoever edited this obviously has talent - how anybody could string this carnage together is beyond me - and just got away with it.Overall? This wouldn't get any respec' from even your most chavved-up action junkie. The Marksman is blatantly written, directed and produced by accountants with no imagination or inclination to bother - so don't.
Maarten Labeeuw Poor cinematography, poor soundtrack, in fact just plain poor all round. The only condition under which this movie should be watched is if you're completely plastered, but still having trouble getting to sleep... this film will do the trick. The use of gadgets and gizmo's is yet another aspect of this movie which has been badly mistreated, just there to fill space in between boring action sequences. In fact in that respect they are much like this paragraph, of no real use but still required by the movie industry so the back cover doesn't give a duration of 10 min which is really all the plot was good for.
