Synopsis

There is a long-held belief that mirrors act as gateways to another dimension. ·Some also believe the looking glass plays host to a world filled with evil spirits. Such superstition has been the basis for ancient folklore legends about haunting and possession. And one tale about a supposedly haunted mirror was picked up by the media in 2012. Both the Daily Mail and Huffington Post reported on how the owners of a recently purchased antique mirror left them dogged by bad luck, financial misery, strange sightings and death-defying illness. Now writer/director Edward Boase brings that horrifying story to the screen starring Jemma Dallender (I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE 2), Joshua Dickinson and Nate Fallows (‘Whitechapel’) as flatmates who buy the same eerie antique on ebay and set up round the clock cameras in the hopes of capturing evidence of bumps in the night. You have been warned!

Maidgethma Wonderfully offbeat film!
2hotFeature one of my absolute favorites!
Sameer Callahan It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
Mathster The movie runs out of plot and jokes well before the end of a two-hour running time, long for a light comedy.
troyfullerusa It is difficult to put into words how terrible - painfully terrible - this indie film is. While I appreciate all of the work done by cast and crew I am obligated, nay driven, to comment. This production can be summed up succinctly thus: three dimwitted 20-somethings want to play "paranormal activity" for a few days and, putting their limited cerebral resources on hold, spend most of their time running amok loudly cursing and fighting with each other as they opine about a newly acquired mirror now hanging in their badly decorated flat in London. Toss in some poorly-done fake blood, an obsession with eyes, and a loathing for anything resembling suspense and you have nicely summed up "The Mirror."
brittneysaid-787-572711 I'm only giving it a 5 because its the first movie I have watched in a very long time that has actually scared the ... out of me. And I don't scare easy. The parts that I was able to watch were pretty good. The introduction was really good, not too long and not to short and explained enough but didn't give too much away. The suspense slowly built up throughout the whole movie which made it even scarier in a good way.For a movie that is filmed like paranormal activity, they did such a better job at it then they did, the graphics were really good.Overall it was a good movie and would try to watch it again start to finish during day time. My recommendations is to not watch it in the dark, cover up all the mirrors in the house and watch it with someone you can bury your face into. :)
D P I can't believe someone actually said this was better than Oculus. That's the only reason I made this account. Believe me Oculus is much much better. Do not waste your time on this film. I am an avid horror fan this is just pure garbage. It is poorly made, it's goes nowhere, there's no jumpy bits, it's not scary in the slightest. . . . . . Oculus is very clever and enticing this is plain stale. I was so disappointed and even more so that it is a British film. Must've been a very low budget and must've been thrown together within a week. If you like horror and like a scare this will only disappoint. Nothing interesting came from this film. It's very boring I should've turned off after 10 minutes. No joke, Sabrina the teenage witch is scarier than this.
killianhgore I was actually tiring a little of 'found-footage' movies after viewing a spate of recent ones that were poorly made, badly written and just plain implausible! And then I watched The Mirror.I thought it was an absolutely brilliant and genuinely frightening horror movie. I haven't felt so scared watching a horror movie in years! It literally gave me chills. To begin with I found the story of the three flatmates attempting to capture some spooky footage rather entertaining - they're all fantastic, very natural actors and the interplay between them was highly watchable. But as events started getting out of hand, as a result of the ominous mirror, I found myself being drawn into the chilling narrative to the point of feeling like I was watching a nightmare being played out on the screen. The 'found-footage' style evoked such a sense of dread that I felt like I was actually watching one of my own nightmares. The third act of the film is an absolute masterclass in tension, suspense and disturbing, unsettling filmmaking - and all achieved with no music score!I haven't had this kind of a reaction to a horror movie in a long time and it was really refreshing to watch something that actually scared me. Structurally and stylistically The Mirror is an excellent horror film and I'd recommend it to all horror fans - even if, like me, you'd become disillusioned with 'found-footage' - The Mirror should shine you back onto them!
