The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Yes, the plot is different than the book, but for me that's a good thing. The movie tells the story of two very awkward, lonely people who find each other and create a safe space for themselves as they make peace with who they are. While not as "deep" as the book, it's far more approachable for the majority of people, and is 100 percent certain not to traumatize you in what you thought was the middle of a pleasant Christmas story (which happens to some people with the book, as you can see when you check it out on Goodreads). If you're a fan of the book, this probably isn't for you. But if you like sweet, heartfelt Christmas movies, please give it a try.

As a lover of the "feel-good", slightly cheesy hallmark movies, I was very excited to watch this movie. I was, however, extremely disappointed by the quality.I never really expect any giant plot twists or any excellent writing; the hallmark movies are known for their stories that just make you feel good. This movie had no story. The plot is extremely boring, as it follows the premise of the summary exactly. The whole movies follows this one "couple" pretending to be in love. Nothing interesting or even believable happens. In fact, I can't believe that either of them hated Christmas in the first place because the second they spend time together, they start loving Christmas. The acting in his film is not great and nothing happens to these two characters. They don't even fall in love until the very end, when they are suddenly so in love, after having stated about a million times that their arrangement was just a business arrangement. If you have a few hours to kill, I suggest another hallmark Christmas movie.

The book is well written and tells a beautiful story of forgiveness. It is so much more engaging than this fluffy movie that really has no story other than a romance. Highly recommend reading the book and skipping the movie. I understand creative lead way but Hallmark did this book an injustice. The director also made poor choices in turning a story of redemption into a comedy. I love that Hallmark does feel good movies. However, they tend to be far from reality and border on fantasy. This story does have sadness (in the book) but Hallmark could have done a better interpretation without making it too much of a drama because it has a happy ending. Lastly the acting was meh!

Loved the book by Richard Paul Evans. This movie "based on" the book actually had almost nothing in common with the book. The names of the characters, their jobs, and the fact that they made an agreement to be one another's companions for a few weeks until Christmas were the only parts of the story that even vaguely resembled the book. This was a totally different story! The book had mystery and substance. The book showed a dramatic character arc as both protagonists eventually fell in love, shared their innermost secrets and found they were still loved. The movie is stupid. HALLMARK, why would you make such drastic changes to a perfect story?
