Peereddi I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Brendon Jones It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
Scotty Burke It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review
aldunisch This was a very cool film. I like how they stuck to what Chuck was! Anyone remember Rose is Rose? Calvin and Hobbes?
Clifton Johnson The good news is that this movie captures the best of Peanuts animated specials: adult neuroses via childlike dialogue, amusing visual gags, charming characters. The bad news is that it also captures the worst of those tv shows: minimal plot, random/long Snoopy interludes and self serious thematic speeches. The animation style was perfect (and beautiful), but the movie was still uneven.
leonblackwood Review: For a cartoon, which first came to light in 1950, it's amazing that it is still pulling in audiences around the world. I watched the specials that came on TV and I liked the toys and the comic strips but I wasn't a die hard fan like a lot of people around the globe. Personally, I liked Snoopy more than the various characters, because of his wild behaviour and the mischief that he got up with his little yellow friend Woodstock. With the technology that is available now, I was expecting something amazing from this film but the director decided to stay true to the original concept and the style of animation. From an adults point of view, I didn't find the movie that funny or entertaining, mainly because the storyline wasn't that great but I can see kids loving it and it's a great day out for the whole family. Charlie Brown's insecurities, at such a young age, became a bit tedious after a while, which is why Snoopy is so great. The fact that he doesn't speak, makes his face expressions and mannerisms even more amusing, and his loyalty to Charlie Brown is quite sweet. This movie is based on Charlie Brown falling in love with the new school girl, and next door neighbour, the Little Red Hair Girl but he can't pluck up the courage to speak to her. All through the movie, he tries different methods to get close to her but all of his plans lead to a dead end. It's quite a basic plot which lacked adult wit! I have to commend the animators for staying true to the original look and feel of the classic but for this day and age, I was expecting more. I know that Charles M. Schulz never wanted to make a full blown animation movie so it had to be close to the original for the owners to agree to the release, which is why they never changed any aspects of the characters. With that in mind, I can totally understand why the film was made this way, and I appreciate the efforts that were made to keep it as close as possible to the original but I still would have liked something fresh and different from these iconic characters. Watchable!Round-Up: This movie was directed by Steve Martino, who also brought you Horton Hears a Who!, and Ice Age: Continental Drift. He also made 4 shorts for the Ice Age franchise but apart from that, he hasn't had that much experience in the animation world, which is why it was a big surprise that he was trusted with such a large project. He done well in terms of keeping the die hard fans happy and keeping the animation close to Charles M. Schulz original work, which must have been hard because the characters are known around the world. Its good to see that this movie made such a big profit because the franchise was definitely unique and it's nice to see them brought back to life after such a long time. Budget: $99million Worldwide Gross: $246millionI recommend this movie to people who are into their animation/adventure/comedies, voiced by Noah Schnapp, Trombone Shorty, Kristin Chenoweth, Rebecca Bloom, Anastasia Bredikhina, Francesca Capaldi and Alexander Garfin. 5/10
ejl-41750 Being a big Peanuts fan as I am, I was excited to see this film. Happy to say that it was well worth the watch and more.First of all, it's kind of nice that an animated film from this era has a story related to life's simple things rather than have a big action-packed adventure for once. We see Charlie Brown deal with things from writing a book report to getting ready for a school dance, but his biggest challenge here is working up the courage to ask the red-haired girl out. And another thing we see here is a journey in Snoopy's imagination as The World War I Flying Ace fighting against The Red Baron to save the girl dog Fifi. Although most people see it as dumb filler, I think it's entertaining and serves as a great parallel to Charlie Brown's struggles.Next, the great characters that we all know and love haven't been tampered with one bit in this film. First of course, is the main character Charlie Brown, who is the honest and warmhearted boy that we all want to see achieve his goals. Following him in his quest are his sweet but slightly crazy sister Sally, his nice helpful and supporting friend Linus, the hilariously mean Lucy, the piano and Beethoven obsessed Schroeder, the tomboyish Peppermint Patty and her friend Marcie, the nice but quiet Franklin, and of course Charlie's funny and lovable dog Snoopy along with his bird friend Woodstock. Also, when the trailers were first out, people had concerns about the animation being done in CGI. While I admit I was a little bit among that crowd, at the same time, I was curious to see how it translated. It's nice to see that they did a fantastic job with it. They did not stray away from the classic style backgrounds, character animation and designs, while at the same time adding some slightly new dimensions and textures.Final Thoughts: The Peanuts Movie is a great animated film that proves the Peanuts can be relevant in our modern culture without resorting to the use of modern technology or pop-culture jokes. And it also proves that less is most indeed more. I recommend everybody watches this film at least once, especially long-time die-hard Peanuts fans. I also highly recommend this as a film for parents to pick up and watch with the children for a family movie night.10/10
